Full Job Description Job Summary:

As a Laborer, you will provide landscape maintenance, landscape irrigation, or landscape construction support to a variety of industrial, commercial, and/or public properties. Landscape maintenance, landscape irrigation, or landscape construction support includes the safe operation of commercial-grade landscaping equipment and upkeep of plant material and other landscaping elements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

Performs a variety of tasks involving manual labor in landscape, irrigation, or construction projects. Performs manual and machinery work in preparing surfaces for paving (Landscape Construction). Maintains a clean job site, picks up all tools and equipment, and secures job site each day to eliminate potential hazards. Performs materials handling and storage. Loads and unloads trucks and hauls and hoists materials. Ensures that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed. Cut turf using various-sized power mowers, trimming, and edging using a gas-powered edger/trimmer, and operating a gas-powered blower. Properly and safely prune shrubs and low trees as needed to improve the shape or growth habit or to remove damaged branches. Lay sod, plant, mow, trim, dig, rake, prune, mulch, sprinkler installation, and load and unload materials. Plant and maintain flower beds. Operate the edger and line trimmer along sidewalks, flower beds, trees, buildings, fences, and other objects. Pick up trash and blow leaves and other organic debris onto the turf before mowing. Mulch the leaves and organic matter when mowing. Perform weeding by hand or using a garden hoe or hula hoe. Maintain a polite, friendly, responsive demeanor with customers. Bring problems to the attention of the foreman, safety manager or HR manager. Must uphold company policies, procedures, and company core values at all times.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction or landscape job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. The position regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The position lifts heavy objects, walks and stands for long periods of time and performs strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions. The employee lifts, pushes, pulls or carries objects; uses abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue; and effectively jumps, sprints or throws objects. The position requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multilimbed coordination. The position requires the ability to quickly move arms and legs. The employee must have excellent stamina.

Travel:

Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.
