Job Title:
General Laborer - Day Shift (Fire Watch Technician) Job Description This role provides on-site support to an MEP contractor at a commercial data center project, with a primary focus on fire watch duties, site logistics, and general labor tasks. You oversee and assist crews working on the data center, help maintain a safe and organized work area, and support construction activities as needed during daytime shifts. 140 per diem, 7 days a week guaranteed as long as scheduled shift is worked. Responsibilities Perform fire watch duties by closely monitoring work areas, identifying potential fire hazards, and ensuring safety protocols are followed at all times. Assist and support the MEP contractor and construction crews working on the data center site, responding to daily operational needs. Oversee and observe workers performing tasks in designated areas to help maintain safety and compliance with site rules. Carry out site cleanup activities, including removing debris, organizing materials, and keeping pathways clear to support efficient operations. Handle basic site logistics such as moving materials, tools, and equipment to appropriate locations as directed. Operate machinery and equipment as assigned, following all safety procedures and operational guidelines. Support mechanical and construction activities by performing general labor tasks under the direction of supervisors. Assist with driver and vehicle coordination on site, helping manage movement and positioning of trucks and equipment when required. Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work environment throughout the data center construction site. Follow all safety policies, procedures, and instructions, and promptly report any incidents or unsafe conditions. Essential Skills Experience performing fire watch duties in a construction or industrial environment. Proven ability to perform site cleanup and maintain a clean, organized work area. Knowledge of basic site logistics, including material handling and equipment staging. Ability to oversee and monitor workers in designated areas to support safety and compliance. Experience with machine operation in a construction or mechanical setting, following safety protocols. General mechanical aptitude and familiarity with construction environments. Ability to support driver management and coordination of vehicles and equipment on site. Capacity to perform physically demanding general labor tasks in an outdoor commercial construction environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in commercial construction, particularly on large facilities such as data centers. Comfort working closely with MEP contractors and multi-disciplinary construction teams. Strong attention to safety and detail when performing fire watch and oversight duties. Reliable, punctual, and able to follow instructions and site procedures consistently. Good communication skills to interact with supervisors, contractors, and other site personnel. Why Work Here? Work Environment This position is based on a commercial construction data center site, primarily outdoors. You work in a fast-paced environment alongside mechanical and construction teams, with exposure to typical construction conditions such as noise, dust, and varying weather. The role involves regular use of construction tools and machinery, and requires appropriate safety gear and attire suitable for an active, outdoor construction setting during daytime hours. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Haskell, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
