Job Title:
Construction Crew Chief GeoPoint is a land surveying company with multiple locations, specializing in land development, geomatics, geospatial mapping, commercial surveys, and subsurface utility engineering.
Summary/Objective:
The Construction Crew Chief has a leadership role within the surveying company, responsible for overseeing and coordinating field operations. This position requires strong technical skills in surveying equipment operation, combined with leadership abilities to supervise and guide field personnel effectively. The Construction Crew Chief II ensures that all surveying tasks, including boundary surveys, topographic surveys, construction staking, and as-built surveys, are completed accurately and on schedule, while maintaining a high standard of safety and quality.
Essential Job Functions:
Operate surveying equipment, including total stations, GPS receivers, data collectors, and automatic levels. Direct and supervise field personnel, providing guidance, support, and training as needed. Plan and coordinate daily field activities to ensure projects are completed on schedule and within scope. Perform a variety of surveying tasks, such as boundary surveys, topographic surveys, construction staking, and as-built surveys. Make in-field decisions on boundaries, topographic features, and tree identification. Enter and verify data accurately, including coordinates, angles, distances, offsets, auto linework, azimuths, bearings, and field codes. Collect, record, and process field data, ensuring accuracy and completeness. Prepare detailed reports on field activities, project progress, and crew performance for review by the Chief of Field Operations. Maintain and manage surveying equipment, ensuring it is in good working condition and calibrated as required. Promote and enforce a strong safety culture within the crew, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and company policies. Ensure proper attire and use of safety equipment (cones, signs, vests) as necessary. Interact professionally with clients and contractors on-site, addressing any issues or concerns related to surveying services. Maintain positive client relationships and ensure satisfaction with surveying deliverables. Acquire daily work assignments and necessary project information. Maintain accurate survey notes and records which should be turned in/submitted/scanned daily. Accurately record and submit daily time sheets for the crew. Oversee and evaluate crew performance, conduct, and work habits. Provide training, guidance, and mentoring to crew members. Recommend crew members for promotions, disciplinary actions, or dismissal as necessary.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction surveying, including significant experience in leadership or supervisory roles. High school diploma or equivalent. Additional certification or coursework in surveying or related fields is advantageous.

Lifting and carrying equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. over rough terrain may be required. Hand-eye coordination is necessary to operate various pieces of field equipment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to sit, stand, walk, use hands/fingers to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms, speak, and hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and smell. Able to get in and out of vehicle multiple times a day. Drive 30 to 200 miles daily. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. It is required to work outside in all types of weather conditions, possibly for extended periods of time. The terrain may be rough, steep, wet, or swampy. Vegetation may be dense, and insects, snakes, or animals may be encountered. Desk/Workstation may be located in a confined area. Moderate noise indoors/outdoors (i.e., computers, phones, printers, and traffic). Able to work overtime and some weekends. Able to work well in a team environment as well as being self-motivated and driven.

Adhere to all company and regulatory safety standards and procedures. Identify potential safety hazards and take appropriate corrective actions. Report accidents, injuries, and unsafe conditions in a timely manner. Participate in safety training and promote a culture of workplace safety.
Travel:
Some travel may be required.
Schedule:
Must be able to start the workday promptly @ 6:30 AM and be available until 6:00 PM if required. Overtime is mandatory.
Availability:
Able to work 40-65 hours per week, including evenings and weekends if required.
