MSHA Certification Full Job Description Position Summary:
The General Laborer is responsible for supporting daily operations at the sand and gravel mining pit. This position involves physical labor, equipment clean-up, site maintenance, and assisting operators and supervisors in maintaining safe and efficient production operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform general labor duties around the mining pit, plant, and shop areas Clean and maintain equipment, conveyors, and work areas Assist equipment operators, mechanics, and supervisors as needed Shovel material, remove debris, and maintain roadways and walkways Help with loading, unloading, and moving materials and supplies Conduct routine inspections and report safety hazards or equipment issues Follow all MSHA safety regulations, company policies, and procedures Operate small tools and equipment safely Assist with plant maintenance and repairs when needed Work outdoors in varying weather conditions
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED preferred Previous construction, mining, or labor experience preferred but not required Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting up to 50 pounds Ability to work in dusty, noisy, and outdoor environments Dependable attendance and strong work ethic Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
Requirements:
Must pass pre-employment drug screening and background check Valid driver's license preferred MSHA certification is a plus or willingness to obtain certification
Working Conditions:
Outdoor work in hot, cold, wet, and dusty conditions Exposure to moving machinery and heavy equipment Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and climbing
Schedule:
Work schedules may vary depending on seasonal demands, production schedules, weather conditions, and company needs. Employees must be flexible and available to work different shifts or extended hours when required.
