Job Description

Laborer - Milling Crew 3.3 3.3 out of 5 stars Adams Construction Company is one of the oldest asphalt paving firms in Virginia. Since 1946, Adams has participated in the construction of every interstate throughout Virginia and most of the primary highways. Throughout the Company's growth in Virginia and into North Carolina, it has strived to maintain a family culture in a corporate world.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Under general supervision of a superintendent, the Laborer performs a variety of manual or semiskilled tasks related to road building and maintenance of road building equipment and facilities.
RESPONSIBILITES
Maintain constant awareness of ongoing operations in your surrounding area while safely and efficiently completing required physical tasks Tasks may include, but are not limited to jack hammering, shoveling, cleaning, traffic control or assisting with any other milling operation related task Must be able to follow instructions and have a good work ethic Have the ability and willingness to learn new things
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects The ability to lift and carry heavy loads
OF 40 - 50 POUNDS OR MORE ON
on a daily basis The ability to understand and carry out verbal and or written directions paying attention to detail The ability to stand for long periods of time. (10-12 hours)
QUALIFICATIONS
High School diploma/GED. Prior construction or paving experience preferred but not required. Possesses a strong work ethic, teamwork and respect to all individuals. Must possess a valid driver's license, have an acceptable driving record, and have reliable transportation Candidates must be able to work overtime, nights, and weekends, as projects demand. Candidates must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test as well as random tests if selected during employment.
