A Habitat for Humanity Construction Helper provides critical on-site support by performing hands-on building tasks, managing tools, and guiding unskilled volunteers. This role is vital to fulfilling the Habitat for Humanity mission of building and repairing affordable housing alongside future homeowners.

Schedule:

Monday through Thursday with occasional Friday or Saturday.

Reports To:

Construction Manager and/or Habitat Director.

Job Duties:

Site Prep & Cleanup:

Clear debris, sweep waste, and dig holes. etc….

Material Handling:

Load, unload, and haul building supplies to work areas.

Trades Support:

Hold materials, pass tools, measure and cut lumber. Have basic understanding of measuring, and cutting materials as well as using hammer and actual construction of the basic components that go into building a home. Volunteer & Homeowner Support.

Guide volunteer crews:

Direct small groups of skilled and unskilled community volunteers, teaching them basic tasks.

Key Responsibilities Perform hands-on tasks:

Execute a wide range of building phases including demolition, site prep, framing, insulation, drywall, flooring, roofing, and finish carpentry.

Maintain sites:

Assist with daily setup and thorough cleanup of active build spaces to ensure a professional environment.

Execute repairs:

Participate in new home builds, rehabilitation projects, and weatherization/critical home repair

Skills & Requirements:

Physical Strength:

Lift 50 pounds or more and stand for long hours.

Stamina:

Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and reach for extended hours in varying outdoor weather conditions.

Teamwork:

Listen to supervisors and work well with crew members.

Safety Mindset:

Wear protective gear and follow site guidelines.

Education:

High school diploma preferred Self starter with the ability to work independently. Understanding that this job is physically difficult at times. Driver's license required. Punctuality is mandatory.

Screening:

Ability to pass a mandatory criminal background check and drug screen.

Pay:

$15.00 - $17.00 per hour
