Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a motivated and dependable Laborer/Operator to join our dynamic team! In this energetic role, you will be responsible for supporting underground utilities & directional boring operations by performing a variety of hands-on tasks, operating heavy machinery, and ensuring safety standards are upheld at all times. This position involves assisting with the installation of underground utilities, operating construction equipment, and supporting directional drilling operations. The ideal candidate is safety-minded, mechanically inclined, and willing to work outdoors in a physically demanding environment. Duties Hours are typically Monday through Thursday from 6:30 AM to 4:30 PM Operate heavy machinery and equipment safely and efficiently, adhering to all safety protocols and manufacturer guidelines Assist with the installation of underground utilities including installation of water, gas, electric, etc. utilities Assist with directional drilling operations, including locating, pulling back product and equipment set up Assemble pipe, hydro-vac utilities, trenching, completing power lines for Black Hills Energy Operate construction equipment including excavators, skid steers, loaders, mini excavators, trenchers, rollers and other machinery as qualified Dig, backfill, compact and restore work areas Install conduit, pipe, vaults, handholes and related underground infrastructure Conduct routine inspections of machinery and work areas to identify potential safety hazards or mechanical issues Perform heavy lifting and manual labor Work effectively as part of a crew while maintaining productivity and quality workmanship Perform other duties as assigned Must be able to work overtime as needed; some Friday and/weekend work may be required occasionally Experience Valid driver's license required Prior experience in underground utility and directional drilling environments is preferred but not required; on-the-job training will be provided Mechanical knowledge or familiarity with machinery operation is highly advantageous Understanding of safety standards Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently Strong attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining a safe and organized workspace
