Grit and Grind Coffee

Restaurant Operations & Systems Consultant

Job Description

Coffee Shop / QSR Operations Systems Consultant

•Only applicants with proven experience will be responded Project-Based | On-Site in Andalusia, Alabama | Grit

+ Grind Coffee The opportunity Grit

+ Grind Coffee is seeking an experienced restaurant or franchise operations professional to improve our corporate headquarters coffee shop and build an operating system we can replicate across our franchise locations. This is a hands-on project for someone who has successfully developed, implemented, and trained teams on operating systems in a coffee, quick-service restaurant, fast-casual, or comparable franchise environment. We need more than recommendations. We need someone who can identify operational gaps, build practical solutions, implement them alongside our team, and verify that they work. Project structure The initial engagement will include approximately two to three weeks on-site at our corporate location in Andalusia, Alabama . You will work inside the business, observe different shifts, learn our workflows, and work directly with ownership, leadership, and frontline employees. Applicants should propose a realistic project timeline, including any preparation or follow-up needed to complete implementation and training. Additional work may be available based on results. What you will do Assess the operation Evaluate opening, midday, shift-change, and closing procedures. Observe customer service, drink production, food preparation, order accuracy, and speed of service. Review staffing, scheduling, leadership responsibilities, training, inventory, ordering, and accountability. Identify where unclear expectations, inefficient workflows, or missing systems are affecting performance. Review available performance data and establish a starting point for measuring improvement. Build and implement the systems Create clear responsibilities for store managers, shift leaders, and baristas. Establish daily, weekly, and monthly leadership routines. Build opening, midday, shift-change, and closing checklists with clear ownership and verification. Develop practical procedures for cleaning, equipment care, stocking, inventory, ordering, and waste tracking. Improve workflows for rush periods, station assignments, and shift handoffs. Create training and competency sign-offs so leaders can verify that employees can perform their responsibilities. Establish a simple process for tracking performance and addressing missed standards. Train the team and prepare for replication Test procedures during actual service and revise them based on results. Train leadership and employees to use the systems consistently. Confirm that managers can operate and maintain the systems independently. Organize final materials into an editable toolkit we can adapt for franchise locations. Required project deliverables By completion, we expect: Operational assessment: Prioritized findings, recommended changes, and any remaining work.

Leadership accountability system:

Role responsibilities, management routines, and verification expectations.

Store operating toolkit:

Usable SOPs, checklists, logs, and supporting templates.

Training and rollout:

Team training, competency verification, and implementation support.

Performance scorecard:

Clear measures, targets agreed upon with ownership, and a review schedule.

Franchise rollout guide:

Instructions for adapting the system to other locations, including differences in store format. Success means the systems are being used effectively by our team—not simply delivered in a document. Required experience Substantial leadership experience in coffee, QSR, fast-casual, or franchise operations. Direct responsibility for creating and implementing operating systems, SOPs, training programs, or accountability processes. Experience improving measurable results such as speed of service, order accuracy, labor productivity, waste, or training consistency. Ability to work on-site in Andalusia for the initial engagement. Ability to coach employees respectfully and create systems that are simple enough to use during a busy shift. Multi-unit operations, franchise field support, corporate training, and successful consulting projects are strongly preferred. Experience following an established system alone is insufficient. You must be able to demonstrate what you personally built, how you implemented it, and the results. How to apply Submit your résumé or professional background, along with: A brief description of two relevant operations improvement projects. Explain the problem, your personal role, what you built, and the outcome. At least one redacted work sample you created, such as an SOP, manager routine, training tool, or operating checklist. Do not submit confidential materials. Your availability for an on-site engagement in Andalusia. Your proposed project fee or rate, estimated timeline, and any travel or lodging requirements. Two professional references who can verify your implementation experience. References will be checked before selection. Applications without project examples and a relevant work sample will not move forward. Application screening questions What operating systems have you personally built and implemented in a restaurant, coffee shop, or franchise business? Describe one measurable improvement your work produced. Include the starting point, result, and timeframe. How would you structure a two-to-three-week on-site engagement, and what would require follow-up? How do you verify that managers and employees continue using your systems after you leave? Are you available to work on-site in Andalusia, Alabama, for this project?
