  • Full-time Company Description Thayer-Bray Construction is a fast paced, family owned, mid-sized Commercial General Contractor working in the Southeastern United States.
The company emphasizes building strong relationships with clients and the communities it serves. Job Summary The Superintendent is responsible for overseeing all on-site construction activities, ensuring the project is completed on schedule, within budget, and according to the highest quality standards. This position requires close coordination with project managers, subcontractors, and clients to manage project timelines, enforce safety protocols, and address any issues that may arise during construction.
Key Responsibilities Jobsite Management:
Oversee all on-site activities, from start to finish, ensuring adherence to project plans, specifications, and timelines. Coordinate daily with project managers to communicate project status, address concerns, and ensure smooth progress. Ensure the project remains on schedule and adjust sequencing as necessary to avoid delays. Plan procedures based on start & completion times & staffing requirements for each phase. Manage Assistant Superintendents, Foreman, and laborers. Work directly with Project Management. Willingness to teach field engineers, project engineers and/or assistant superintendents. Lead supervisors & trade partners engaged in planning & executing work, interpreting specifications & coordinating various phases of construction to prevent delays. Manage all field operations of trade partners to effectively complete their work. Conduct preconstruction meetings for all major trades Participate in weekly/biweekly OAC meetings
Team Leadership & Coordination:
Direct and supervise subcontractors. Develop and maintain strong working relationships with subcontractors, clients, and the project team. Lead daily and weekly project meetings to ensure everyone is aligned with project goals and responsibilities
Quality Control & Compliance:
Ensure all work meets or exceeds the required standards and specifications. Conduct regular inspections to identify and resolve quality or safety issues. Review and approve work progress and address deficiencies with subcontractors promptly. Plan & set up efficient jobsite layout, including site utilization and primary control. Plan & establish flow of the work activities on the project. Direct development of Overall Project Schedule. Manage/Lead near term scheduling meetings. Address issues arising from meetings.
Safety Management:
Enforce all safety policies, procedures, and regulations to maintain a safe job site. Conduct weekly site safety meetings and ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety guidelines. Maintain a clean and organized job site, ensuring safe access for workers and visitors.
Documentation & Reporting:
Maintain accurate daily logs, progress reports, and timesheets. Track and document project milestones, issues, and resolutions. Ensure all necessary permits and inspections are in place and up to date.
Budget & Cost Control:
Monitor project costs and identify opportunities to reduce expenses without compromising quality or safety. Review and approve invoices, work orders, and material purchases with project manager if required. Coordinate directly with project manager and subcontractors to ensure all materials and resources are available on-site when required to prevent delays.
Qualifications:
A Degree in Construction Management or a similar program is preferred, but not required. Ability to read, analyze & interpret contract documents, safety rules, operating & maintenance instructions & procedure manuals. 5+ years of experience in construction supervision, preferably in general contracting. Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, codes, and legal regulations. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, and project specifications. Proven track record of managing large-scale construction projects to successful completion. Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality. Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office Suite. OSHA certification and other relevant safety training are preferred. If not current, receive within 1st year & keep current. Experience actively managing Self-Performed work.
Work Environment:
This role requires being on-site for the majority of the project. The role may involve travel to different job sites depending on the project
