Job Description
Site Superintendent -
This person should be capable of identifying potential issues before and during excavation, understanding utility installation and sequencing, interpreting plans, coordinating field operations, and ensuring projects are executed safely, efficiently, and according to specifications.
The ideal background could include a grading/utility foreman who progressed into site supervision, or a site estimator/project professional who transitioned into field operations and has strong practical knowledge of civil/site work.
Key ResponsibilitiesSupervise and coordinate day-to-day site construction activities, with a primary focus on grading, excavation, underground utilities, and site development.
Understand and oversee installation of underground utilities, including water, sewer, storm drain, and related site infrastructure.
Review plans, specifications, and site conditions to identify potential conflicts or construction issues before they become costly problems.
Monitor excavation, trenching, grading, utility installation, backfilling, compaction, and related site work.
Coordinate subcontractors, crews, inspectors, vendors, and other project stakeholders.
Verify that work is being performed correctly and in accordance with plans, specifications, schedules, and safety requirements.
Identify field conditions that could impact schedule, cost, quality, or constructability and communicate them proactively.
Read and interpret civil, grading, utility, and construction plans.
Track project progress, documentation, schedules, RFIs, submittals, and field issues.
Maintain accurate project records and daily reporting.
Work closely with Project Managers and Estimators to ensure field execution aligns with project requirements.
Help coordinate sequencing of site work to prevent delays and rework.
Ensure proper safety practices and site standards are maintained.
Required Qualifications5+ years of construction experience, preferably in grading, utilities, excavation, or civil/site development.
Proven experience as a Site Superintendent, General Superintendent, Foreman, Civil Foreman, Utility Foreman, or similar field leadership role.
Strong hands-on understanding of grading and underground utility construction.
Ability to recognize potential problems with excavation, utilities, site conditions, sequencing, and constructability.
Strong ability to read and interpret civil, grading, utility, and construction drawings.
Experience coordinating subcontractors and field crews.
Strong computer and construction technology skills, specifically:

Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the field.
