Full-time Assistant Project Manager Job Description Position Summary:
The Assistant Project Manager (APM) supports the Construction Project Manager in the coordination and execution of construction projects from pre-construction through closeout. The APM assists with project planning, documentation, scheduling, and communication to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with quality and safety standards. This role requires proficiency in Procore, familiarity with industry standards, and strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite. The Assistant Project Manager serves as a critical team member within the project delivery process and contributes to overall project success through consistent execution and collaboration.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist the Project Manager in managing all phases of construction projects, including pre-construction, procurement, construction, and closeout activities. Utilize Procore to support project documentation workflows including RFIs, submittals, meeting minutes, daily logs, drawing management, and change orders. Help develop and maintain project schedules and budgets in coordination with the Project Manager to ensure project revenue for the company. Support subcontractor and vendor coordination by tracking deliverables, deadlines, and correspondence. Attend project meetings and assist in preparing agendas, minutes, and follow-up tasks. Assist with site visits to monitor work progress and support quality assurance and compliance efforts. Collaborate with field teams to gather data and ensure timely project reporting. Help ensure project compliance with local codes, safety regulations, and industrystandards. Support the preparation and review of cost reports, invoices, and project documentation. Maintain accurate and organized digital and physical project files. Foster teamwork and effective communication among project stakeholders, subcontractors, consultants, and internal departments. Contribute to process improvements and best practices within the project management team. Support general project and team needs as required, demonstrating flexibility, collaboration, and a commitment to helping the company succeed through shared responsibilities and cross-functional teamwork.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred; equivalent field experience will be considered. 1 year of experience in a construction-related role, preferably in project coordination or field support capacity. Proficiency in Procore or other construction management software preferred. Familiarity with construction industry standards, codes, and best practices. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications. Strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Eagerness to learn and grow within a team-oriented environment. OSHA 10 certification preferred (OSHA 30 is a plus).
Reporting Structure:
This position reports directly to the Construction Project Manager and may receive additional direction from Senior Project Managers, CFO and Principals.
Working Conditions:
The role involves a combination of office-based tasks and on-site project support. Occasional travel to construction sites is required. Extended hours may be necessary at peak project milestones.
