Job Description
About the Role VSS Logistics, LLC is seeking an experienced Alternate Site Manager to support our team's proposed performance on the DLA Distribution Barstow Consolidated (DDBC) contract in Barstow, CA. This is a Key Personnel position under the contract's Performance Work Statement, and the selected candidate must be prepared to hold full authority to act on all matters of contract performance in the Site Manager's absence. This position is contingent upon VSS Logistics, LLC being awarded the DDBC contract. We are accepting applications now to support our proposal submission requirements, with anticipated start date aligned to contract award. DoD/DoW Secret Clearance is required for this position. Key Responsibilities Provide supervision for Contractor employees, including planning and managing contract performance professionally Coach and mentor supervisors and leads to ensure work is scheduled for maximum use of resources Ensure accurate, timely reporting and effective supervision to prevent inefficient or wasteful performance Execute cost-saving measures and quality controls to keep work performed on schedule and at fair and reasonable cost Step into full contract-performance authority when the Site Manager is unavailable Serve as a key point of coordination with Government stakeholders and internal leadership Minimum Qualifications At least 3 years of experience in Distribution Management, OR at least 7 years of management experience in distribution operations of similar size and complexity Minimum 2 years of experience using automated Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) within the past 5 years DoD/DoW Secret Clearance is required for this position. Must be complete by 1 April 2027. Proven ability to lead complex distribution and warehousing operations from planning through execution, with consistent, successful results Track record managing personnel and shifting workloads while maintaining performance metrics, compliance standards, and follow-through on corrective actions Excellent oral and written communication skills Ability to obtain and maintain a CAC and meet all Government security/background investigation requirements Security & Access As a Key Personnel role with full contract-performance authority, this position requires eligibility for a DoD installation, a favorable Government security/suitability determination, and a DoD Common Access Card. Given expected use of DLA WMS and other Government systems, IT-access eligibility and related investigation requirements also apply. Candidate must be able to complete standard DoD/DLA security training and comply with installation access and reporting procedures.
