SUMMARY:
The Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) Operations Manager leads the people, processes, and project delivery that turn design and model information into coordinated, constructible, and field-ready electrical work. Partnering closely with project management, field operations, prefabrication, and procurement, this role manages VDC resources and workload and is accountable for team performance, project delivery, quality, and continuous improvement. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Team and Project Leadership Lead, coach, and develop VDC team members; set clear expectations, hold the team accountable for performance, and support training, succession, and career growth. Plan staffing and workload across current and upcoming projects, identifying hiring, training, or reassignment needs early. Facilitate VDC project kickoffs to confirm contract and BIM requirements, deliverables, responsibilities, milestones, and escalation paths. Own VDC project delivery from startup through closeout, managing scope, hours, budget, schedule, forecasts, and recovery plans. Evaluate scope changes for VDC, labor, prefabrication, schedule, and commercial impact, and report portfolio performance, risks, and needed decisions to leadership. Coordination and Constructability Oversee model development, coordination, clash management, constructability reviews, and issue tracking using current contract documents, approved submittals, and Baker Electric standards. Provide technical direction on complex coordination and installation issues, documenting assumptions, design gaps, and unresolved conflicts. Route engineering, code, and contractual decisions to the appropriate responsible party. Prefabrication Coordinate with project management, prefabrication, procurement, and field leadership to align VDC deliverables with material needs, fabrication capacity, and delivery timing. Ensure work packages clearly define scope, quantities, fabrication details, sequence, and installation intent; use prefab and field feedback to drive corrective action and improve standards. Field Integration Support field execution through look-ahead planning, sequencing, layout, logistics, constraint removal, and timely resolution of field issues. Ensure field teams can access current approved models, drawings, and layout data, and integrate safety and installation risk into field-readiness reviews. Quality Establish readiness reviews and acceptance criteria before VDC deliverables are released to procurement, prefabrication, or the field. Maintain and enforce VDC standards, SOPs, checklists, templates, and document-control practices; coordinate changes with affected teams. Drive continuous improvement in VDC technology and processes that increases productivity, quality, and predictability without unnecessary administrative effort. Protect confidential client, employee, project, and commercial information. Perform other related duties as assigned.
