Purpose of Job:
The Holiday Lighting Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the setup, installation, and maintenance of holiday décor and lighting for municipal, theme park, and commercial clients. This leadership position involves managing a team of employees and contractors, ensuring that all projects are executed efficiently, safely, and according to established quality standards. The Foreman/Supervisor will coordinate daily tasks, oversee resources and staffing, and maintain a focus on safety and adherence to timelines. They will also be responsible for ensuring proper materials and equipment are delivered to and from job sites, managing project budgets, and fostering a positive, productive work environment. This role requires a strong sense of leadership, problem-solving, and the ability to handle multiple tasks in a time-sensitive, seasonal environment.
Responsibilities:
Coordinating daily tasks according to priorities and plans, making changes when necessary due to weather, supply, delivery and personnel. Frequent travel, including extending days/weeks assignments, based on operational needs Delegating individual responsibilities and projects to crew members and contractors. Recruiting, hiring, training, managing and mentoring employees and contractors. Providing adequate resources and staffing to meet project schedules, laws, regulations, best practices and safety needs. Emphasizing safe use of tools, machinery and equipment while providing training on safety gear, helmets and procedures. Developing and managing project budgets and quality standards for all sites. Resolving conflicts or miscommunications quickly and amicably. Regularly reporting project status to supervisors, project managers and other officials. Utilize checklist for projects to ensure materials are available and ready to load onto trucks for projects. Ensures proper materials, tools, products, etc. assigned to specific projects are delivered on time. Responsible for driving materials to job sites. Accountable for ensuring materials are returned, unloaded, and stored properly in the warehouse. Quick learner with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, maintain focus, and adapt to a variety of challenges. Ability to conduct detailed procedures in a time constrained environment. Good written and verbal communication skills. Strong sense of time organization and urgency. Able to work independently and within a team.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Customer-service skills to communicate with inspectors and administration to develop a positive working relationship. Ability to travel to different job sites on multi-day/multi-week assignments. Decision-making skills for selecting personnel and subcontractors for specific tasks and jobs to meet deadlines and budgets. Initiative for generating their own business opportunities and being proactive in locating new clients. Many foremen market the companies that employ them while bidding on jobs. Leadership skills for effectively delegating tasks to lower-level managers, subcontractors and laborers. Speaking skills for providing clear orders, explaining complex information to clients and construction workers and discussing technical details with other building specialists. Technical skills for interpreting construction methods and technologies along with contracts and technical drawings. Time-management skills to meet deadlines and ensuring project phases are completed on time so that the next phase can start. Writing skills for writing budgets, proposals and plans along with documenting work progress for clients and others involved. Required valid driver's license. High School diploma or GED, must be 18 years of age. Must have 5 years of experience. Bilingual preferred. Basic proficiency with MS Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides. Must be able to follow instructions. Must always adhere to safety protocols. Knowledge and experience operating a variety of tools, including ladders and some machinery. Must be able to lift and/or move objects up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move objects that weigh more than 100 pounds. Ability to follow directions and work independently. Attention to details is a must. Must be able to work night shift or weekends if necessary. Punctuality is a must. Ability to communicate effectively.
Physical Demands/Working Conditions:
Physical demands: Full range of mobility in upper and lower body; overhead reaching; ability to work in various positions; Including but not limited to stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling, and squatting for extended periods of time; lifting up to 50 pounds frequently throughout the workday; pushing and pulling materials and equipment.
Working conditions:
This position works outdoors in extreme weather conditions and climates. The employee will be exposed to dust, odors, fumes, machinery with moving parts, dirt, dust, debris, regularly. The noise level in the work area is usually moderate and occasionally loud. Travel required during the selling season to include vehicle travel throughout California and possible other states. Will be required to work nights and/or days depending on specific project. Overtime during peak season may be required.
