Job Description

Holloway Construction, Inc. is a growing general contractor focused on delivering high-quality construction projects with professionalism, accountability, and strong client relationships. We are looking for a Construction Operations Manager to help lead the next phase of growth by bringing structure, leadership, and consistency to day-to-day operations. This is a key leadership role for someone who knows how to manage people, projects, and processes while keeping jobs moving, teams aligned, and profit protected. Position Summary The Construction Operations Manager is responsible for leading day-to-day construction operations across active projects while being directly accountable for operational performance, key company and project KPIs, and overall profitability. This role oversees Project Managers, Superintendents, Estimating, and project support staff to ensure jobs are properly staffed, scheduled, documented, forecasted, and executed in ways that protect gross profit and support company net profit. The right candidate will be a strong leader who can build accountability, reduce daily chaos, improve communication between the field and the office, and help the company scale without depending on the owner to solve every issue. This person must understand that success is not just keeping jobs moving, but delivering predictable financial results for the company. Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage day-to-day construction operations across all active projects.
  • Oversee and hold accountable Project Managers, Superintendents, and project support staff.
  • Ensure projects are properly staffed, organized, and progressing according to schedule.
  • Run regular operations meetings, job status reviews, and KPI reviews with clear follow-through and accountability.
  • Identify job risks early and drive corrective action.
  • Improve coordination between field teams, project management, estimating, and office staff.
  • Monitor schedule performance, change orders, RFIs, submittals, closeout, and project documentation.
  • Own, track, and report on company and project KPIs, including backlog, forecasted gross profit, job cost trends, pending change orders, cash flow support, staffing utilization, and closeout performance.
  • Hold project teams accountable for hitting profitability targets through strong forecasting, cost control, documentation discipline, and timely decision-making.
  • Partner with ownership and accounting to improve company profitability through better project execution, accurate forecasting, operational discipline, and early intervention on underperforming jobs.
  • Own and improve the operational drivers of company profitability, including gross profit performance, labor productivity, job forecasting, change-order conversion, and closeout discipline.
  • Standardize and improve operational processes from startup through closeout.
  • Help develop stronger leadership within the PM and Superintendent team.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for project-related operational issues and ensure problems are solved in a way that protects schedule, margin, and client relationships.
  • Reduce the amount of day-to-day project drama and routine issues reaching the owner while increasing leadership accountability throughout the organization. Qualifications
  • 10+ years of construction experience, with increasing leadership responsibility.
  • 5+ years managing multiple projects and/or supervising Project Managers and Superintendents.
  • Strong background in commercial construction, public works, institutional, or education projects.
  • Strong knowledge of scheduling, project execution, subcontractor coordination, buyout, submittals, RFIs, change orders, billing support, and closeout.
  • Proven ability to lead people, build accountability, and improve team performance.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Ability to identify project risk early and drive solutions.
  • Strong financial and operational acumen, including understanding of job costing, forecasting, WIP, backlog, and the drivers of company profitability.
  • Demonstrated experience owning KPIs and holding teams accountable for both operational performance and financial results.
  • Comfortable working in a growing company environment where leadership, follow-through, and adaptability matter.
  • Proficiency with common construction management software, scheduling tools, and Microsoft Office. Preferred Qualifications
  • California construction experience.
  • Public works and school project experience.
  • Experience with DSA projects.
  • Experience helping a growing contractor build stronger systems and leadership structure.
  • Background as a Senior Project Manager, Operations Manager, General Superintendent, or similar leadership role. What Success Looks Like
  • Projects are organized, visible, and under control, with financial performance measured and reviewed consistently.
  • Project Managers and Superintendents clearly understand expectations and are held accountable.
  • The company hits defined KPI targets and profitability goals through stronger forecasting, accountability, and execution discipline.
  • Problems are escalated with solutions, not surprises.
  • Schedule drift, communication breakdowns, and avoidable margin erosion are reduced.
  • Operational systems are consistent and repeatable, and KPI reporting creates visibility into both project health and company profitability.
  • The owner is less involved in daily project issues and able to focus on growth, strategy, and key relationships while the operations team delivers profitable execution.
Please submit your resume along with a brief summary of your experience leading construction operations, managing teams, and improving project execution.
