Job Description

Job description Overview We are a well-established, family-owned civil construction company based in Long Beach, California, serving Southern California since 1978. We are seeking a motivated and team-oriented Project Manager with experience in asphalt paving, concrete, grading, utilities, and public works construction. This role is ideal for someone looking to continue growing their career in project management while gaining hands-on experience managing both public and private infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will be confident walking job sites, reviewing plans and specifications, coordinating with field teams and subcontractors, and helping drive projects from estimating through closeout. We are looking for someone who is organized, proactive, dependable, and capable of building strong relationships with clients, inspectors, vendors, and internal teams. Most importantly, we want someone who will be a strong cultural fit and contribute positively to our collaborative environment.
Job Duties Include:
Assist with full-cycle estimating, proposal preparation, and project management through project completion Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining schedules, budgets, and quality standards Review and interpret plans, specifications, contracts, and bid documents to define project scope and requirements Coordinate with owners, clients, subcontractors, suppliers, inspectors, and internal field teams Support project planning, scheduling, procurement, and resource allocation Monitor project progress and proactively identify and resolve issues impacting schedule or budget Communicate project expectations, contract requirements, and scope details clearly to field personnel Track project costs, change orders, production, and overall financial performance Maintain accurate project documentation, reporting, and correspondence Attend project meetings, site walks, and client coordination meetings as needed Support continuous improvement and contribute to a positive team environment Opportunity for growth and advancement within the organization
Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in asphalt paving, concrete, grading, underground utilities, or related heavy civil construction Experience managing heavy civil construction projects valued at $5 million or greater Experience supporting or managing public works and/or private construction projects preferred Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, contracts, and construction documents Strong organizational, scheduling, and problem-solving skills Field experience with the ability to make practical and timely decisions onsite Experience working with General Contractors, subcontractors, and public agencies is a plus Self-motivated with strong accountability and ability to manage priorities independently Excellent written and verbal communication skills Proficient in Microsoft Office and construction/project management software Experience with Bid2Win or similar estimating software is a plus Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field is preferred but not required Experience working with public works agencies and/or private contractors/builders is highly desirable We are an Equal Opportunity Employer and prohibit discrimination and harassment of any kind.
