This is not a vertical construction position. We are seeking a Superintendent with documented experience managing underground wet utility installation, demolition, sitework, aggregate base placement, and asphalt paving operations on federal or heavy civil projects. Experience supporting FAA, USACE, NAVFAC, DoD, or other federal agencies is highly preferred. Candidates with airfield, runway, taxiway, control tower, or aviation infrastructure experience will receive strong consideration. Flexible work schedule as position allows Required Construction Experience Candidates must demonstrate successful field supervision of projects including: Underground wet utility demolition and installation (water, sewer, storm drain) Utility trenching, excavation, shoring, backfill, and compaction Site grading and earthwork Aggregate base placement and testing Asphalt paving operations and quality control Coordination of utility testing and inspections Management of subcontractors performing underground civil work Daily coordination with Owners, Engineers, Testing Agencies, and Government representatives Applicants without substantial underground utility and paving experience will not be considered. FAA airfield experience Air Traffic Control Tower infrastructure projects Active FAA badge or previous FAA badging Experience working adjacent to active runways or secure aviation facilities Utility relocation experience Heavy civil projects exceeding $5M Superintendent / SSHO Responsibilities Supervise functional construction efforts to ensure projects are constructed in accordance with design, budget, and schedule Plan, coordinate, supervise, and manage resources to meet project objectives Supervise and direct field supervisors and subcontractors to ensure productivity, efficient use of materials and equipment, and contractual performance Assist project team in scheduling, developing, and implementing project procedures, working documents, and standards Interface with all on-site work teams (including subcontractors) to resolve problems, ensure quality, safety, and achieve schedules Review shop drawings and prepare submittals for conformance with project specifications; maintain accurate submittal register for each task order Coordinate, supervise, and manage on-site trades personnel and subcontractor work Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and corporate safety initiatives Maintain proficiency in Microsoft Office applications Experience working on federal projects required Must be able to obtain access to Federal Installations Education High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related field preferred. Work Experience Required Minimum 7 years supervising heavy civil construction projects. Demonstrated experience directing underground wet utility demolition and installation. Proven experience with trenching, excavation, utility installation, aggregate base, grading, compaction, and asphalt paving. Experience coordinating materials testing, surveying, and utility inspections. Experience managing multiple subcontractors while maintaining project schedule. Federal construction experience required. Preferred FAA projects Airfield infrastructure Airfield lighting Air Traffic Control Tower support facilities Utility relocation projects Secure facility construction EM-385 experience Knowledge, SkillsAbilities Thorough knowledge of construction methods, equipment, materials, company policies, procedures, and union agreements Experience managing projects ranging from $5M-$12M in a firm fixed-price environment OSHA 10-hour certification required Excellent communication, organizational, supervisory, and planning skills Proven time management skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize work on multiple projects Flexible, self-motivated, and professional Meticulous with timely reports and meeting submission deadlines Experience using BuilderTrend software or similar construction management software
