POSITION OVERVIEW
The Assistant Superintendent supports the onsite Superintendent and project team with daily field operations. This role provides an opportunity to develop construction knowledge and gain experience supporting Superintendent and project team activities. The Assistant Superintendent supports subcontractor coordination, documentation, jobsite safety activities, and scheduling support under the direction of the Superintendent. This role requires strong communication, willingness to learn, and a proactive approach to supporting field leadership. Assistant Superintendents assist the Superintendent in communicating and supporting safety standards, project procedures, and company requirements under the direction of the Superintendent. The position provides hands-on exposure to construction processes, sequencing, inspections, and Procore documentation. Assistant Superintendents work closely with Superintendents, Sr. Superintendents, GSS, Project Engineers, and Project Managers to build the foundational skills required to provide effective support to jobsite operations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership & Team Support Must be team oriented through professionalism and reliability Actively support the Superintendent and Sr. Superintendent in daily field operations Ability to work independently when assigned tasks, with follow-through Communicate clearly with subcontractors, vendors, PM/CM teams, and RSVC leadership Field Operations Assist in reviewing project plans, specifications, and scopes of work Perform daily site walks with the Superintendent to support schedule adherence Help coordinate subcontractors, deliveries, materials, and inspections Support compliance with RSVC safety policies and communicate safety concerns or observed violations to the Superintendent Assist in maintaining a clean, organized, and safe jobsite Assist with collecting project information and communicating updates to Superintendent Documentation & Reporting Assist in completing daily logs, photo documentation, and field reports Track manpower, progress, deliveries, and issues in Procore daily Record and communicate discrepancies to the Superintendent or Sr. Superintendent Help prepare areas for inspections and support municipal inspection scheduling Collect jobsite paperwork, packing slips, and supporting documentation as required Scheduling & Planning Assist in developing and maintaining 2-week lookahead schedules Identify long-lead items or potential delays and communicate them promptly Help verify subcontractor readiness prior to work start Quality & Closeout Support punch list walks and assist with documenting and resolving punch items Participate in pre-closeout and post-closeout meetings as needed Understand requirements for as-builts and assist in updating documents Safety Help conduct weekly safety tailgate meetings and maintain attendance records Report all incidents, near misses, or hazards immediately Report unsafe conditions and communicate safety concerns to the Superintendent or appropriate project leadership Communication Maintain professional communication with field teams, PM/CM, inspectors, and clients Escalate issues promptly when they impact schedule, safety, or quality Other Responsibilities Must be able to operate hand and power tools under supervision Must support project needs during nights or weekends when required Availability to perform other work-related duties as assigned Perform administrative and field support tasks necessary to support project operations
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma required; education in Construction Management preferred 1-3 years of construction field experience preferred OSHA 10 certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire) Basic understanding of commercial construction methods and sequencing
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
Ability to read and understand basic construction drawings Strong communication and interpersonal skills Customer service oriented Reliable attendance and strong work ethic Ability to identify and communicate safety risks and follow established procedures Basic proficiency with construction tools and equipment Willingness to learn scheduling, sequencing, inspections, and documentation
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to lift and carry up to and exceeding 50 pounds as needed safely and repeatedly Stand, walk, and move throughout job sites for extended periods Climb and work from ladders, lifts, scaffolding, and at various heights Bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and perform sustained physical activity for extended periods Working in various indoor and outdoor environments, including exposure to weather, dust, noise, and construction conditions Ability to work on active jobsite environments Must be able to work full-time hours, including occasional nights and weekends, based on project needs
IT REQUIREMENTS
Basic computer and technology proficiency Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) Procore and Bluebeam knowledge preferred (training provided) Ability to use iPad/tablet and smartphone applications for reporting
Pay:
$25.00 - $30.00 per hour
