Superintendent Job Description We are seeking a detail-oriented and driven Superintendent to lead field operations on hospital and commercial construction projects. In this role, you will coordinate daily activities with subcontractors, ensure strict adherence to safety and code requirements, and deliver projects on time, within scope, and to a high standard of quality. This position specifically requires prior experience as a Superintendent on at least two to three hospital projects with HCAI or OSHPD involvement. The company is based in Thousand Oaks and can assign projects close to where you live; candidates local to Ventura County must be willing to commute to Los Angeles as needed. Responsibilities Lead and supervise all field activities on hospital and commercial construction projects, ensuring work progresses according to plan, schedule, and budget. Coordinate and manage subcontractors, including general labor, carpentry, electrical, mechanical, and other trades, to maintain smooth and efficient jobsite operations. Oversee hospital construction activities with a strong focus on HCAI and OSHPD requirements, ensuring all work complies with relevant codes and regulations. Implement and enforce a robust safety program on site, maintaining a zero-tolerance approach to unsafe behaviors or conditions and promoting a strong safety culture. Monitor and maintain quality control standards, ensuring all work meets project specifications, drawings, and client expectations. Review and interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications to guide field crews and subcontractors and to resolve construction-related issues. Coordinate construction activities around hospital operations, including scheduling work during swing shifts or off-hours to minimize disruption to patients and staff. Communicate regularly with project management and stakeholders to provide updates on progress, issues, and schedule changes. Ensure strict adherence to code compliance and regulatory requirements throughout all phases of construction. Support installation of interior upgrades, medical equipment, and improvements to patient rooms, ensuring work is completed safely, cleanly, and professionally. Maintain a high level of professionalism on active hospital sites, representing the company positively to clients and hospital staff. Assist with planning, sequencing, and logistics of work, including material deliveries, site access, and coordination with hospital facilities teams. Essential Skills Proven experience as a Construction Superintendent, including at least two to three hospital construction projects. HCAI or OSHPD experience specifically related to hospital construction and regulatory compliance. At least 2-3 years of hospital construction experience, preferably with multiple hospital-specific projects as a Superintendent. Strong background in commercial construction, including interior upgrades and building systems. Demonstrated commitment to construction safety, with the ability to enforce and uphold strict safety standards on site. Experience working with general contractors and managing subcontractors across multiple trades. Hands-on knowledge of construction supervision, including scheduling, sequencing, and field coordination. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and construction documents. Experience with construction management and project management principles in a field environment. Familiarity with construction safety practices; Osha 30 certification or equivalent safety training is strongly preferred. Working knowledge of general construction disciplines such as carpentry, electrical, mechanical, and general labor tasks. Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to direct field teams and maintain professional relationships with clients and hospital staff. High level of professionalism and reliability, particularly when working in active hospital environments where patient care is ongoing. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience delivering interior upgrades, medical equipment installations, and patient room renovations in hospital settings. Experience in engineering or a related technical field supporting construction and field coordination. Exposure to code compliance processes and inspections specific to healthcare facilities. Experience working on repeat-client projects where long-term relationships and consistent performance are critical. Flexibility to work varying shifts, including occasional swing shifts, to accommodate hospital operational needs. Ability to commute to different hospital locations such as facilities in Los Angeles and surrounding areas when assigned. Work Environment This role is field-based on active hospital projects, focusing primarily on interior upgrades, medical equipment installations, and patient room improvements. Work is performed within operating healthcare facilities, requiring a high level of professionalism, discretion, and respect for patients and staff at all times. Safety is the top priority, and all activities must comply with hospital policies, regulatory standards, and strict safety protocols. Typical schedules are Monday through Friday, with potential for Saturday work depending on project needs. Most shifts are standard day shifts, generally running from 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. or 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with occasional swing shifts from 6:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. when work must be performed outside normal hospital operating hours. Projects are located across various hospitals, and you may work at different facilities over time. The environment is fast-paced and hands-on, involving regular interaction with subcontractors, hospital facility teams, and project stakeholders. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Thousand Oaks, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $55.00/hr.
