Orange County | Los Angeles County | Inland Empire Build Public Projects That Matter NM Building Group is seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent to lead field operations on California public works projects throughout Southern California. This is not a desk job. This is not a paperwork-heavy trailer superintendent position. You'll serve as the company's primary field representative, coordinating subcontractors, maintaining project schedules, ensuring quality workmanship, and building strong relationships with owners, inspectors, and design professionals. Position Summary As the Construction Superintendent, you will be responsible for the day-to-day field operations on multiple public works projects, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and in accordance with the contract documents. You will coordinate subcontractors, work closely with Inspectors of Record (IORs), architects, consultants, owners, and public agency representatives, while proactively identifying and resolving issues before they impact the project. Primary Responsibilities Direct daily field operations on multiple active public works projects. Coordinate and manage subcontractor activities. Maintain project schedules and three-week look-ahead planning. Ensure work complies with the plans, specifications, DSA requirements (when applicable), and contract documents. Coordinate inspections with IORs, DSA representatives, inspectors, and owner representatives. Identify constructability concerns, scope gaps, and potential change order opportunities. Verify quality of workmanship and ensure deficiencies are corrected promptly. Maintain jobsite safety, cleanliness, and organization. Coordinate material deliveries, equipment, and site logistics. Document daily activities, progress photos, and field reports using Procore. Communicate field conditions promptly so RFIs, submittals, and change order documentation can be prepared by the office. Represent NM Building Group professionally with owners, architects, inspectors, and subcontractors. Perform limited hands-on work when necessary to keep projects moving (approximately 10% of the role). Minimum Qualifications Five (5) or more years of construction field supervision experience. Experience supervising California public works construction projects. Experience coordinating multiple subcontractors. Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, civil, and MEP drawings. Strong understanding of public works construction sequencing. Experience working on occupied facilities. Excellent communication and leadership skills. Valid California driver's license and reliable transportation. Ability to travel throughout Southern California. Preferred Qualifications Experience with one or more of the following: California K-12 school construction DSA modernization projects Community college projects Municipal or civic facilities Occupied campus construction Design-Bid-Build public works CUPCCAA projects Procore Bluebeam Revu Microsoft Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, and Excel OSHA 30 Certification Bilingual (English/Spanish) Compensation & Benefits Competitive salary based on qualifications and experience.
