General Contractor Position Overview The Senior Superintendent provides overall nighttime on‑site leadership for a multi‑year federal construction project in Colorado Springs. This overnight role is responsible for managing all after-hours construction operations to ensure work proceeds safely, efficiently, and in compliance with federal requirements. The Senior Superintendent serves as the primary field authority during the night shift, coordinating with daytime leadership to maintain seamless 24‑hour project continuity. Key Responsibilities Overnight Field Leadership Lead and supervise all nighttime construction activities, ensuring compliance with contract documents and federal construction standards. Maintain a strong field presence during overnight hours to monitor work progress, ensure productivity, and enforce quality expectations. Coordinate transitions between daytime and overnight crews to maintain consistent workflow and alignment with overall project schedule. Manage overnight subcontractors and vendors, validating manpower, equipment use, and task completion. Federal Compliance & Quality Control Uphold requirements for USACE, NAVFAC, GSA, or other federal agencies during all night operations. Conduct and document overnight inspections and coordinate with the Quality Control Manager for follow-up activities during the day shift. Ensure all federal documentation, including daily reports and inspection logs, accurately reflect night-shift progress. Safety Leadership Enforce all federal, state, and company safety requirements, including EM 385‑1‑1 and OSHA standards. Conduct overnight safety briefings, review JHAs, and address unsafe conditions immediately. Collaborate with the Site Safety & Health Officer (SSHO) to maintain continuous safety oversight across shifts. Schedule & Coordination Align night-shift work plans with the master project schedule and communicate progress to the Project Manager and daytime superintendent. Identify and mitigate schedule risks associated with overnight operations. Coordinate materials, deliveries, and equipment needs specific to nighttime execution. Communication & Documentation Prepare detailed overnight daily reports summarizing manpower, activities, inspections, and site conditions. Participate in coordination meetings and provide key updates regarding night-shift progress and issues. Serve as the point of contact for the federal client or inspector during nighttime operations. Qualifications Required 10-15+ years of commercial or federal construction experience, with at least 5 years leading field operations . Previous experience managing nighttime or 24/7 construction operations strongly preferred. Strong understanding of federal construction standards, including FAR, UFCs, and EM 385‑1‑1. Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills. Proficiency with construction software such as Procore, MS Project/P6, and Bluebeam. Preferred USACE or NAVFAC project experience. OSHA 30 and EM 385‑1‑1 certifications. Ability to obtain or maintain federal base access or security clearance as needed. Experience with commissioning and federal punch‑list processes.
