Job Description

This Role can be flexible for part time or full time hours, but would include closing the center, so minimum 230-6 pm. Role Description & Expectations The Site Coordinator is a full-time leadership position that serves as the third level of management at Little Lambs & Ivy Child Care Center. Throughout the day, the Site Director works as a floating teacher, classroom support staff member, or assigned classroom teacher while providing leadership, coaching, and operational support across the center. During the afternoon and evening hours, the Site Coordinator transitions into the primary manager on duty, overseeing daily operations, supporting staff, ensuring licensing compliance, and directing all closing procedures. This position provides consistent leadership throughout the day while ensuring the center closes safely, professionally, and in full compliance with Connecticut Office of Early Childhood requirements. Daytime Responsibilities
  • Serve as a classroom teacher, floater, or assigned classroom support based on daily operational needs.
  • Provide classroom coverage for breaks, lunches, planning time, and staff absences.
  • Maintain licensing ratios and active supervision.
  • Support curriculum implementation and positive classroom environments.
  • Assist with behavior guidance and classroom transitions.
  • Build positive relationships with children, families, and staff.
  • Maintain classroom organization and cleanliness. Leadership Responsibilities
  • Serve as a member of the leadership team.
  • Support the Director and Assistant Director in daily operations.
  • Reinforce center policies and procedures.
  • Assist with mentoring and coaching staff.
  • Promote teamwork, professionalism, and accountability.
  • Communicate operational concerns promptly to leadership. Afternoon & Closing Operations
  • Serve as the primary management representative during the closing shift.
  • Monitor staffing and adjust classroom assignments to maintain ratios.
  • Support teachers and resolve operational concerns.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for staff and families during closing hours.
  • Make operational decisions within established policies. Closing Responsibilities
  • Ensure every child is signed out safely.
  • Verify staffing ratios through the final departure.
  • Ensure classrooms are cleaned and prepared for the next day.
  • Complete the daily closing checklist.
  • Secure confidential records, classrooms, and the building.
  • Set alarms and complete all end-of-day security procedures.
  • Report maintenance, safety, or licensing concerns. Decision-Making Authority
  • Reassign staff to maintain ratios.
  • Address routine parent concerns.
  • Resolve minor operational issues.
  • Implement emergency procedures when necessary.
  • Contact the Director for significant incidents requiring additional guidance. Schedule Expectations
  • This can be full time or part time.
  • Work directly with children throughout the day as a floater or classroom teacher.
  • Transition into the primary management role during the afternoon and closing hours.
  • Maintain flexibility to work in any classroom based on operational needs.
  • Assist with meetings, trainings, openings, special events, or emergency coverage as requested. Performance Expectations

  • Ensure efficient afternoon operations and professional center closings.
  • Maintain strong communication with leadership.
  • Support positive staff morale and teamwork.
  • Leave the center clean, secure, and prepared for the following day.
Philosophy of the Role The Site Director is a hands-on leader who leads by example. This role is intentionally designed to remain actively engaged with children and teachers throughout the day while providing operational leadership during the afternoon and closing hours. Rather than working primarily from an office, the Site Director supports classrooms, assists teachers, solves problems as they arise, and ensures every child, family, and staff member experiences a safe, positive, and well-managed environment from opening through closing. As Little Lambs & Ivy grows, this position may evolve to include additional leadership responsibilities, operational oversight, and special projects. Flexibility, initiative, accountability, and a commitment to excellence are essential expectations of this role.
Pay:
$17.00 - $18.00 per hour
