Job Description

Field Supervisor / Utility Superintendent Civil Construction & Infrastructure Development Florida Panhandle About Us We are a growing civil construction company specializing in horizontal infrastructure projects throughout the Florida Panhandle. Our work includes subdivision development, underground utility installation, roadway construction, stormwater systems, commercial site development, and government contracts, including projects on military installations. We are seeking an experienced Field Supervisor / Utility Superintendent to lead field operations on utility and site development projects while helping build and develop high-performing crews. Position Summary The Field Supervisor / Utility Superintendent will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day construction activities, with a primary focus on underground utility installation, including water, sewer, force main, storm drainage, and related infrastructure. This individual will supervise crews, coordinate equipment and subcontractors, ensure quality workmanship, maintain safety standards, and drive project schedules. The successful candidate will be a hands-on leader who can effectively manage field operations while maintaining strong communication with project managers, engineers, inspectors, and clients. Responsibilities Direct and supervise utility and site development crews on multiple projects.
Manage installation of:
Water distribution systems Gravity sewer systems Force mains Lift station infrastructure Storm drainage systems Underground utility crossings Coordinate grading, roadway, and site development activities associated with utility construction. Review plans, profiles, specifications, and utility drawings. Ensure work is completed according to plans, specifications, and contract requirements. Plan daily and weekly work activities to maximize crew productivity and equipment utilization. Coordinate labor, equipment, materials, subcontractors, and inspections. Identify and resolve field issues before they impact project schedules. Conduct safety meetings and enforce company safety policies. Maintain quality control standards and ensure compliance with project requirements. Track production quantities and provide progress updates to management. Maintain daily reports, field documentation, and as-built information. Build positive working relationships with owners, engineers, inspectors, utility authorities, and government representatives. Qualifications Minimum 5 years of experience supervising underground utility construction projects.
Strong working knowledge of:
Water systems Sewer systems Storm drainage systems Lift stations Utility testing and commissioning Site development and earthwork Proven experience leading crews and managing field operations. Ability to read and interpret construction plans, utility profiles, specifications, and survey information. Strong understanding of trench safety requirements and OSHA regulations. Experience coordinating heavy equipment operations, including excavators, loaders, dozers, graders, and compaction equipment. Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining quality and schedule performance. Strong communication and leadership skills. Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record. Preferred Qualifications Experience with subdivision infrastructure development. Experience with military, federal, municipal, county, or FDOT-related projects. OSHA 30 Certification. Utility contractor experience within Florida. Experience with dewatering operations, utility tie-ins, and maintenance of traffic requirements. Knowledge of GPS machine control and construction technology systems. CDL license or heavy equipment operation experience is a plus.
