ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The basic function of the Assistant Superintendent is to assist with coordinating and supervising craft employee activities. The Assistant Superintendent reports to and is directly accountable to the Superintendent.REQUIREMENTS
EducationRequired:
High School Diploma or equivalent.Preferred:
High School Diploma or equivalent plus formal journeyman carpentry training and/or supervisory training courses. ExperienceRequired:
5 years construction experience or 2 years experience with 4-year degree.Preferred:
Degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering.Skills / Knowledge
/ Abilities- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- In-depth understanding of construction operations and processes.
- Thorough knowledge of all safety requirements.
- The ability to motivate employees and handle different situations. Physical Requirements
- Must be able to see well (either naturally or with correction).
- Coordinate the movements of eyes, hands, and fingers with full use of hands, arms and fingers.
- Climb and maintain balance on ladders and scaffolding.
- Stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl or work at any height.
- Lift and carry objects weighting up to 50 pounds and occasionally more.
- Must be able to work under stressful deadline situations.
- Must be able to communicate in English, verbally and in writing.
- Must be able to comprehend business math and interpret data from various sources.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Assist with supervision of craft personnel to ensure project is constructed by design, within budget and on schedule.
- Assist in planning work schedule, determining manpower levels, material quantities, equipment requirements, etc.
- Monitor personnel for compliance with safety and working procedures.
- Advise Superintendent of all potential problems and assist in problem solving.
- Perform additional assignments as required.
