ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT

(ENTRY-LEVEL) Cami-Axle Construction Corp. — Miami, FL Cami-Axle Construction is a Florida-licensed structural concrete and CMU masonry subcontractor based in Miami. We are hiring an entry-level Assistant Superintendent to support field operations across active job sites in Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties. This is an entry-level position. You will work under the direction of an assigned Superintendent, who provides training and day-to-day guidance. It is a strong fit if you have some construction background and want to move into field supervision.

Please note:

this is an in-person role. Roughly 20% of your time will be spent in our Miami office and 80% on job sites. Saturday availability is required. We are not able to provide visa sponsorship for this position now or in the future. Working proficiency in both English and Spanish is required. Any offer of employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check; a criminal record does not automatically disqualify an applicant. Cami-Axle works on public school and government projects, and any field employee assigned to one must hold the required agency clearance, in Florida schools, that means Level 2 screening with fingerprinting and state and federal criminal history checks, plus a school contractor ID badge. Field employees should expect to complete this at some point.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Schedule in-house labor, subcontractors, consultants, and vendors in critical path to ensure timely completion. Perform quality control duties regarding the work being performed. Walk all units on the project daily to monitor activities and assist in future planning. Maintain a daily log in Procore of jobsite activities. Coordinate required inspections. Communicate with the project team regarding RFIs and material submittals. Ensure in-house labor personnel and subcontractors are executing and complying with the contracted scope of work. Identify non-compliance with safety, health, and environmental quality standards. Identify conflicts in construction progress and communicate them to the project team for resolution. Issue notices of non-compliance to subcontractors regarding quality of work or scheduling. Ensure correction of all deficiencies identified by the project team. Perform job progress and completion punch list identification and completion. Keep the job site clean and organized at all times. Gather project materials and required equipment. Perform these duties at multiple job sites simultaneously.

YOU'LL ALSO

Assist in budgeting, bidding, and award of subcontracts. Assist in obtaining permits or approval of revisions. Assist in hiring subcontractors and in-house field labor. Identify areas of work outside of subcontracted scope. Preside at pre-construction meetings with in-house personnel and subcontractors. Open the jobsite at the start of the day and secure it at the end of the day, as required. Assist in supervising in-house field labor, subcontractors, consultants, and vendors on a daily basis.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

Project execution — Projects finish on time, within budget, and to specification. You coordinate well with the crew, clients, and subs, and keep daily activity on schedule. Quality control — Minimal defects and rework. You monitor the work consistently, inspect regularly, and catch problems before they escalate. Safety — Zero accidents or safety incidents on site. You help run safety meetings, enforce compliance, and spot hazards before they cause harm. Resource management — Labor, materials, and equipment are used efficiently. Deliveries land on time and workforce issues get handled before they slow the schedule.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR A

construction-related degree, a minimum of one year of verifiable experience in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Working knowledge of the construction trades. Ability to read blueprints. Ability to identify deficient work and provide resolution. Computer literacy. Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Project, Outlook) preferred. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals in both English and Spanish. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence, and speak effectively in front of crews and clients. Ability to calculate area, volume, percentages, and apply basic algebra and geometry. Comfortable solving practical problems where limited standardization exists. Valid driver's license. Ability to commute to job sites in Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position involves work at a construction site, both indoors and outdoors. Overtime may be required to meet project deadlines. Regularly required to stand and walk; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Endurance and ability to cover an entire job site, including stairs and elevated structures. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Regularly exposed to wet and humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, high precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, outside weather, and extreme heat and cold. Occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The noise level on site is usually loud.
