Job Description

The City of New Port Richey, FL is seeking either a FT or PT Building Official for our Planning & Development Department. The City of New Port Richey is a riverfront community approximately 30 miles northwest of greater Tampa with a total area of 4.6 miles. Position will perform both supervisory and administrative duties in building construction regulation to ensure public safety and health. Responsible for a variety of tasks associated with building inspection, plan examination and permitting work. The Building Official will enforce building codes, regulations and ordinances for both residential and commercial construction. This is a highly visible public contact position that requires exceptional customer service skills. At least 10 years of experience in building construction with supervisory responsibilities; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience necessary. Qualified candidates must be Licensed by the State of Florida as a Building Code Administrator at time of hire, under provisions of FS Chapter 468 and certification by the International Code Council (ICC) as a Certified Building Official (CBO). Additionally, certification as a Certified Floodplain Manager or ability to obtain will be necessary. The anticipated annual starting salary for this position is $75,086 to $93,858 DOQ. (For PT, the anticipated starting hourly rate is $36.09/hr. to $45.12/hr. DOQ.) Interested candidates should apply by emailing their resume and cover letter to wetzela@cityofnewportrichey.org .
