The Construction Manager assists the Vice President of Construction in all aspects of construction activity and construction site volunteer management.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 1. Construction Performs all hands-on construction tasks as directed by the Vice President of Construction. Fixes" any construction task performed below acceptable standards by volunteers. Suggests potential advantageous building practices and material cost savings opportunities to the Vice President of Construction as identified. Assists in the supervision of all site preparation and layout. Assists in the supervision of job sites on each designated workday and works to ensure construction is accomplished in accordance with approved permits and plans. Assists in training volunteers and partner families about construction tasks and appropriate safety measures. Performs all homeowner warranty complaints and repairs. 2. Volunteers and Partner Families Assists in the training of volunteer house leaders and volunteer crew leaders. Treats Partner Families and volunteers with respect and dignity. Strives to make their construction involvement meaningful. Understands elements that contribute to successful volunteers and helps ensure that volunteers have a consistently positive, encouraging environment thus motivating them to return. Ensures that communications to volunteers and partner families are respectful, accurate and timely. Assists in identifying volunteer jobs/needs not currently filled and satisfies needs with appropriate volunteers. Assists in the training of all volunteers utilizing knowledge from crew leaders and other construction staff. 3. Required Skills / Experience / Physical Requirements Knowledge and experience in the construction/contracting business. Team building a real plus. Must have a Habitat mission centered approach to leadership. Must be a good listener and be able to engage in well-considered discussions. Must be willing to understand the big picture of the MCHFH mission and know that construction is only a part of the larger goal. Must pass Criminal Background Check and Sexual Offender Check At least two years managing commercial or residential construction; proficiency in managing different types of projects. Demonstrated planning and organizational skills, including the ability to anticipate tasks, set priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt to shifting priorities. Strong team player with demonstrated ability to manage personnel. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with volunteers, always providing exceptional customer service. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively and effectively with and among diverse populations and personalities. Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time; exposure to heat, wind, rain, and snow; climb a ladder; drive trucks and construction equipment; lift 75 pounds. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in individual and group settings. Strong computer skills, to include proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic internet functions; experience with project management software is a plus. Ability to work some evening and weekend hours. This is a primarily a Tuesday-Saturday position with Sundays and Mondays off. Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record. 4. Reporting and Communication Keep the Vice President of Construction informed of progress, success, problems, and other communications for the successful operations of the construction department. Ensure that safety and accident incident reports are prepared on a timely basis. Ensure that all volunteer concerns are communicated immediately to the Vice President of Construction.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS

Must be competent in the use of MS Office (Excel, Word, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint), ability to learn new software packages as needed, 11. Able to present MCHFH's philosophy and program to the public, interested homeowners, and potential volunteers; assist with promoting the mission and program ministry, maintaining a positive public image. 12. Manual dexterity for computer and construction tasks. 13. Ability to adapt to a changing environment and unexpected shifts in priorities. 14. Ability to speak effectively and persuasively to groups. 15. Effective time management, organizational, written, and oral skills. 16. Able to pass pre-employment background check. 17. Able to pass pre-employment drug screen.EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
The requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 1. Bachelor's degree or comparable equivalent in life and job experience. 2. Two to three years' residential or commercial construction experience. 3. Demonstrated knowledge of construction operations, business management, financial reports, purchasing, sales, construction prints, permitting process, rehab, and environmental issues. 4. Valid driver's license is required if driving to perform company business. Reliable transportation required for periodic travel around the city for community meetings and Habitat sponsored events.PHYSICAL CONTEXT AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment is a construction site and requires ability to handle physical labor with exposure to extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, and high levels of noise. 3. This is a full-time salary exempt position requiring flexibility to work evening and weekend hours as needed for to meet goals. 4. Ability to lift 50 pounds and up to 100 pounds using team lifts and appropriate tools. 5. Ability to stand, squat, bend and assist in moving inventory items and in demonstration of safe techniques for staff and volunteers. Repetitive hand motion required for some duties. 6. Periodic travel for Habitat training events may be required. Must have reliable transportation.DISCLAIMER
