Summary We are seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented Project Engineer / Inventory Manager to support our project delivery team and oversee warehouse operations in Champaign, IL . This hybrid role is split between managing the full lifecycle of inventory—from product acceptance to project-site offloading—and providing critical administrative support for nationwide construction projects. You will act as a key support role in project planning and implementation while ensuring that materials, tools, and equipment are tracked and delivered with precision. We need a proactive professional who can coordinate complex project loads, manage technical documentation, and facilitate seamless communication between stakeholders and field operations.Reports to:
Construction Management Team ResponsibilitiesInventory Management & Logistics Strategic Control:
Oversee and optimize inventory levels for national telecommunications and energy projects to ensure material availability without excess surplus.Database Accuracy:
Utilize inventory management software (e.g., Procore) to maintain a 100% accurate, real-time database of all stock, tools, and heavy equipment.On-Load/Off-Load Coordination:
Manage the logistics of "on-loading" materials for outgoing shipments and the "off-loading" of returning equipment, reconciling physical counts with digital records.Quality Assurance:
Implement Method of Procedure (MOP) protocols for handling sensitive equipment and perform rigorous QA inspections on all incoming and outgoing goods.Project Engineering & Administration Project Planning:
Assist in developing project plans, timelines, and work breakdown structures, including task assignments and deadlines.Communication & Coordination:
Facilitate communication between project team members, clients, and vendors through meetings, emails, and regular status updates.Document Control:
Maintain meticulous project documentation, including contracts, drawings, specifications, and change orders, ensuring accuracy and accessibility.Progress Tracking:
Oversee RFIs, submittals, and schedule updates while tracking progress against plans to highlight potential issues on critical tasks.Field Support & Reporting Site Engagement:
Travel to sites to meet with owners, inspectors, or subcontractors to discuss project details and perform QA/QC inspections.Leadership Reporting:
Prepare and present periodic reports to leadership regarding stock utilization trends, expense tracking, and warehouse KPIs.Qualifications Education:
Bachelor's degree in Construction, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.Experience:
3-5 years of experience in construction project administration, site supervision, or inventory management.Technical Skills:
Proficiency in project management software (Procore preferred), Google Spaces, and CRM systems.Expertise:
Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, safety regulations, and Quality Control (QC/QA) processes.Communication:
Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills to coordinate between field crews and C-suite executives.Travel/Physical:
Ability to travel extensively (up to 70%) for site visits and perform physical duties, including lifting up to 50 lbs and operating warehouse machinery.
