The Povolny Group is seeking a full-time/permanent Construction Superintendent for a large government project at the James Lovell Veteran's Hospital (VA) in North Chicago, IL. This exciting project involves a multi-million dollar modernization effort to upgrade data cabling systems, including computers, networks, and phone infrastructure. Additionally, this project aligns with the hospital's new Electronic Health Record Modernization (EHRM) program, ensuring seamless integration of upgraded technology for efficient healthcare services. As Superintendent, you'll play a vital role in ensuring the success of this significant project within a hospital setting, offering your expertise in construction coordination and supervision. Your responsibilities will encompass not only the infrastructure upgrades but also compliance with quality standards, project specifications, and safety protocols.Construction Superintendent Responsibilities:
Oversee the modernization effort to upgrade data cabling systems, including computers, networks, and phone infrastructure, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center Manage subcontractor labor and crews, ensuring strict adherence to Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA) barriers and safety protocols Develop construction strategies and procedures that prioritize safety, efficiency, and high-quality work Assist with budget and schedule preparation, including crew and equipment scheduling Provide strong leadership, mentorship, and training to foremen and tradespeople Ensure strict compliance with project specifications, drawings, codes, ICRA standards, safety protocols, and OSHA requirements Effectively order and schedule materials and subcontractors Maintain meticulous project documentation, including submittals, RFIs, logs, daily reports, photos, and more Skillfully review contracts, subcontracts, and change orders to guarantee alignment with project requirementsConstruction Superintendent Required Qualifications:
Previous experience as a lead Construction SuperIntendent for government, industrial, and/or commercial projects Ability to read and understand construction documents including project plans, specifications, and shop drawings Strong communication skills & leadership ability Must be computer literate, proficient with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, and email OSHA 30 preferred (or ability to take and pass courses upon employment is required)Construction Superintendent Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with data cabling (installation, maintenance, and management) Experience on projects for the Army Corps of Engineers highly desired Understanding of a hospital/healthcare customer setting (knows how to communicate with medical staff onsite, etc.) Understanding of Healthcare IT systems/an EHRM (Electronic Health Record Modernization) Project Proficiency in Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA) barriers and safety protocols Knowledge of infectious disease prevention measures, including practices that ensure a safe and sterile environment during construction in healthcare facilities About The Povolny Group, Inc.: The Povolny Group is a prominent general contractor specializing in government projects across the United States.
