Job Description

The Project Superintendent will have primary responsibility for IDIM's daily field operations, workforce, equipment utilization, production, schedule, quality, safety coordination, documentation, and communication with IDIM management and the prime contractor. The successful candidate must have substantial experience supervising mass-earthwork operations involving excavators, dozers, off-road trucks, soft or saturated ground, survey-controlled grading, and high-volume daily production, Previous experience on USACE Projects Primary Responsibilities Direct and supervise IDIM's daily construction operations from mobilization through final acceptance and demobilization. Plan daily and weekly work activities in accordance with the approved schedule, project drawings, specifications, environmental restrictions, and available work areas. Coordinate clearing, excavation, hauling, fill placement, grading, dewatering, survey activities, haul-road maintenance, equipment servicing, and closeout work. Develop daily production plans and communicate clear assignments to foremen, operators, mechanics, survey personnel, and support crews. Coordinate IDIM's work with Client Representative, USACE representatives, inspectors, surveyors, safety personnel, environmental personnel, subcontractors, and vendors. Participate in daily planning meetings, weekly coordination meetings, schedule reviews, and three-week look-ahead planning. Maintain professional communication with project stakeholders and immediately elevate conditions that may affect safety, quality, cost, production, or schedule. Direct excavation, loading, hauling, dumping, spreading, grading, and final-trimming operations. Manage production involving excavators, dozers, long-reach equipment, approximately ten 30-ton off-road trucks, pumps, support equipment, and survey systems. Establish safe and efficient loading areas, dumping areas, truck routes, turnaround locations, and equipment work zones. Monitor excavator loading times, truck cycle times, haul distances, queue times, payloads, equipment availability, and accepted daily production. Balance trucks, excavators, dozers, and supporting equipment to achieve the required production without creating unsafe congestion or excessive standby time. Conduct or support initial time-and-motion studies to verify production assumptions and equipment requirements. Compare daily and weekly production against the project schedule and implement corrective measures when production falls below plan. Coordinate additional equipment, trucks, operators, maintenance support, or work fronts when required. Prevent excavation outside approved limits or below the allowable grade. Maintain positive drainage and protect completed work from avoidable damage. Conduct field operations in accordance with the accepted Accident Prevention Plan, applicable Activity Hazard Analyses, EM 385-1-1, OSHA requirements, manufacturer instructions, and project-specific safety requirements. Work closely with Promethean's designated Site Safety and Health Officer and immediately correct safety deficiencies within IDIM's control. Understand that the Superintendent position does not replace the project's required full-time SSHO unless the employee is separately qualified, accepted, and formally designated for that role. Conduct and document daily pre-task planning meetings. Confirm that employees understand the applicable AHA before beginning each activity. Enforce seat-belt requirements, PPE requirements, equipment inspections, backing controls, radio procedures, traffic rules, exclusion zones, and stop-work authority.
Pay:
$120,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
