Superintendent Job Description The Superintendent leads day-to-day field operations for a commercial construction project, owning the daily plan, workforce coordination, and short-interval schedules. This role aligns crews, materials, inspections, and subcontractors to meet key milestones while maintaining strict safety and quality standards. The Superintendent conducts regular jobsite walks, tracks progress in real time, and ensures all work complies with OSHA regulations and company safety policies. This position offers full onsite oversight of a construction project for a defined six-month period. Responsibilities Own and manage the daily construction plan, workforce allocation, and short-interval schedules to keep the project on track. Coordinate and align field crews, materials, equipment, and inspections to meet project milestones and deadlines. Lead and supervise onsite construction activities, ensuring work follows plans, specifications, and quality expectations. Conduct daily jobsite walks to monitor progress, identify issues, and track work completion in real time. Enforce OSHA standards and company safety policies, promoting a strong safety culture on the jobsite. Oversee construction safety practices, including hazard identification, mitigation, and adherence to safety procedures. Manage multiple subcontractors on active sites, including scheduling, performance oversight, and conflict resolution. Direct MEP-related field activities and coordinate with mechanical, electrical, and plumbing subcontractors. Monitor and maintain quality control by reviewing work in progress and ensuring compliance with project requirements. Plan and adjust construction schedules in response to site conditions, resource availability, and project changes. Provide clear direction and leadership to field personnel, fostering teamwork and accountability. Document site activities, progress, and issues, and communicate updates to relevant stakeholders. Ensure all field operations support timely project completion and align with overall construction management objectives. Essential Skills 10+ years of commercial construction field experience with proven on-site leadership. Strong background in construction supervision and field management. Demonstrated experience in subcontractor management on active construction sites. Proficiency in construction management, including schedule planning and coordination. Hands-on experience with construction safety practices and OSHA compliance. OSHA 30 certification. HVAC and mechanical experience, including coordination of mechanical systems in the field. MEP experience with a focus on integrating mechanical, electrical, and plumbing trades. Proven ability to manage safety, quality control, and multiple subcontractors simultaneously. Ability to conduct effective daily jobsite walks and track progress in real time. Strong organizational skills to align crews, materials, and inspections with project milestones. Clear communication and leadership skills to guide field teams and subcontractors. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working on commercial construction projects from field leadership roles. Ability to adapt schedules and field plans in response to changing site conditions. Experience enforcing company safety policies and promoting a safety-first culture. Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with multiple concurrent activities. Strong problem-solving skills to address field issues quickly and effectively. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Andover, MA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $60.00/hr.
