Civil Sitework & Paving Project Manager MCE Dirtworks, Inc. - Cape Cod, MA Full-Time | In Person About MCE Dirtworks MCE Dirtworks, Inc. is an established Cape Cod paving and heavy construction company serving municipal, commercial, and residential clients throughout Cape Cod and Southeastern Massachusetts. Our work includes asphalt paving, civil and roadway construction, commercial site work, excavation, grading, drainage, utilities, septic-related site work, demolition, and site development. We are seeking an experienced Civil Sitework & Paving Project Manager to plan, coordinate, and manage multiple active construction projects from startup through completion. This is a hands-on project management role that combines office-based project controls with regular field involvement. The successful candidate must understand heavy construction operations while also demonstrating strong project management capabilities, including scheduling, cost and quantity tracking, subcontractor and vendor coordination, project documentation, billing support, change management, and communication with customers, engineers, inspectors, and field teams. Strong civil plan-reading, construction layout, measurement, quantity takeoff, and GPS/Trimble skills are highly valued. Key Responsibilities Plan, schedule, and coordinate paving, civil, municipal, roadway, commercial site work, excavation, drainage, grading, utility, and site development projects. Coordinate crews, equipment, materials, trucking, subcontractors, vendors, inspectors, engineers, and customers. Review blueprints, civil/site plans, grading and drainage plans, specifications, CAD files, estimates, contracts, and project scopes. Assist with field layout, stakeout, grade checks, measurements, and plan interpretation using survey information, GPS, Trimble, or similar tools. Perform and review takeoffs, field measurements, quantities, and production information. Coordinate project startup, buyout, materials, subcontractors, schedules, and project handoff. Monitor project progress, production, job costs, profitability, schedule, quality, and safety. Identify and resolve field issues involving scope, manpower, equipment, materials, site conditions, inspectors, and customer requirements. Support estimating, change orders, pay requisitions, quantity reconciliation, billing, retainage, certified payroll coordination, and project closeout. Review daily reports, tickets, quantities, trucking, materials, and subcontractor activity to support job costing and billing. Work closely with ownership, foremen, crews, engineers, inspectors, municipal representatives, awarding authorities, customers, and office staff. Qualifications 5+ years of relevant heavy construction experience preferred. Experience in civil/site construction, asphalt paving, municipal/public work, roadway construction, excavation, drainage, grading, utilities, or commercial site development required. Strong ability to read and interpret civil plans, grading plans, drainage plans, specifications, scopes, and construction documents. Experience with construction layout, surveying, grades/elevations, quantity takeoffs, CAD plan review, GPS, or Trimble strongly preferred. Strong understanding of construction sequencing, crew coordination, equipment utilization, materials, trucking, and subcontractor management. Prior experience as a Project Manager, Field Superintendent, Working Foreman, Assistant Project Manager, Estimator, or similar heavy construction role preferred. Experience with municipal/public projects, MassDOT, pay requisitions, change orders, certified payroll, quantities, and project closeout is a plus. Comfortable with Microsoft Office, PDFs, digital plans, and construction/project management software. Strong communication, organization, problem-solving, and follow-through skills. Valid driver's license required. OSHA 10/30, Hoisting License, CDL, Construction Supervisor License, or related certifications are a plus.
