About the CompanyOur client is an established minority-owned construction company founded in 1991, specializing in architectural millwork installation, general construction, and construction management. The company has completed projects for hospitals, universities, hotels, government buildings, and other commercial facilities across Maryland and surrounding regions.
Position OverviewOur client is seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent to oversee daily field operations and manage construction activities independently. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in field engineering and construction supervision, with the ability to manage on-site teams, coordinate subcontractors, maintain schedules, and ensure work is completed safely and in accordance with project specifications.
The successful candidate must be capable of independently managing the construction floor without requiring day-to-day assistance.
Key ResponsibilitiesOversee daily on-site construction activities and manage field operations independently.
Coordinate subcontractors, tradespeople, vendors, and site personnel.
Develop, monitor, and maintain project schedules to ensure timely completion.
Review construction drawings, specifications, and work plans to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Monitor workmanship and ensure construction meets quality standards and project requirements.
Enforce job-site safety procedures and applicable regulations.
Coordinate material deliveries, equipment, labor, and other site resources.
Identify and resolve field issues, construction conflicts, and scheduling delays.
Conduct site meetings and communicate progress, challenges, and updates to project management.
Maintain daily reports, progress records, inspection documentation, and other required project records.
Coordinate inspections, punch-list activities, and project closeout.
Work closely with Project Managers and other stakeholders to keep projects on track.
Required Qualifications3-6 years of experience as a Field Engineer (FE).At least 3 years of experience working as a Construction Superintendent.
Proven ability to independently manage day-to-day construction site operations.
Strong knowledge of commercial construction processes, drawings, specifications, and scheduling.
Experience coordinating subcontractors, trades, labor, and materials.
Understanding of construction safety requirements and quality control procedures.
Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple site activities and meet project deadlines.
Preferred QualificationsExperience with commercial, institutional, healthcare, or government construction projects.
Familiarity with architectural millwork and specialty construction.
Knowledge of construction scheduling and project management software.
