Job Description

Job Title:
Superintendent - Underground Utility Construction Job Description This is a field leadership role responsible for ensuring that underground utility construction projects are executed safely, on time, and efficiently. The Superintendent will be the field quarterback for underground utility projects, maintaining communication with clients, owners, and public officials. Responsibilities Run the day-to-day work on active jobsites. Lead field crews and subcontractors. Coordinate labor, equipment, tools, and materials. Enforce safety and company standards. Work closely with the Project Manager to keep the project on track. Solve field issues as they happen. Review drawings/specifications and ensure work is built correctly. Track production, paperwork, and field progress. Help protect project profitability and support billing. Maintain quality control and properly close out projects. Essential Skills Proven experience in underground utility construction. Strong experience in water/wastewater utility work. Experience leading field crews and subcontractors. Ability to work onsite and travel to projects across the region. Basic computer skills and comfort using email/Microsoft Office. Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills. Additional Skills & Qualifications High school diploma. Underground utility experience, including pipe installation, utility crews, trench work, sequencing, and productivity in the field. Familiarity with OSHA standards, safety meetings, and job hazard analysis. Experience in scheduling crews, ordering materials, and managing production. Budget awareness and experience with change orders/design changes. Work Environment Primarily onsite and field-based work environment, based out of Beltsville, MD, supporting projects across Maryland, DC, Virginia, and possibly Delaware. This is a fast-paced construction environment with outdoor exposure in varying weather. The role requires frequent communication with crews, subcontractors, project managers, clients, and public agencies, and involves some administrative work such as reports, billing worksheets, emails, and scheduling. It requires driving to jobsites and physically navigating active construction sites. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Beltsville, MD. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $120000.00/yr.
Base salary range:
