Halethorpe, MD Compensation:
$110K - $150K An established and growing construction company is seeking an experienced Commercial Construction Superintendent to lead day-to-day field operations on commercial construction projects throughout Maryland and the surrounding region. The company specializes in pre-engineered metal buildings (PEMB) and commercial construction, completing projects ranging from warehouses, dealerships and office facilities to educational, recreational, religious and industrial buildings. This is an excellent opportunity for a Superintendent who understands how to take a project from mobilization through completion, coordinate multiple trades, maintain a demanding construction schedule, and solve problems in the field before they impact the project. What You'll Do Manage daily jobsite operations from mobilization through punch list and project completion Coordinate subcontractors, equipment and material deliveries Manage construction sequencing and short-term schedules to keep projects on track Oversee the erection and construction of pre-engineered metal buildings Coordinate ground-up construction activities involving foundations, structural systems, building envelope and interior trades Read and interpret plans, specifications, shop drawings and other construction documents Identify field conflicts, constructability issues and potential schedule problems before they affect the project Conduct regular site inspections and maintain high standards for workmanship and quality control Enforce OSHA requirements and company safety procedures throughout the jobsite Coordinate municipal inspections, permits and project closeout requirements Work closely with Project Managers regarding schedules, subcontractors, change conditions, staffing and project priorities Serve as the primary on-site contact for owners, architects, engineers, inspectors and subcontractors Maintain accurate daily reports, field documentation and project records Assist with material coordination, subcontractor performance and cost-control efforts Perform hands-on field work and construction problem-solving when necessary Maintain a professional, accountable jobsite environment What We're Looking For 5+ years of commercial construction experience Demonstrated ground-up commercial construction experience Previous experience as a Construction Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent or comparable field leadership role Experience with pre-engineered metal buildings (PEMB), structural steel or related fields Strong understanding of construction sequencing and coordination of multiple trades Working knowledge of structural steel, concrete, building envelope, MEP and interior construction Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications and construction documents Strong knowledge of OSHA requirements and jobsite safety practices OSHA 30-Hour Certification Strong leadership and subcontractor-management skills Ability to identify problems, make field decisions and keep projects moving Strong organizational, communication and documentation skills Experience using construction management or scheduling software such as Procore, Microsoft Project or similar platforms Valid driver's license and ability to travel to regional project sitesPreferred Experience Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering or a related field Experience working on multiple types of commercial construction projects Experience with design-build construction Preconstruction, estimating or proposal involvement Experience mentoring Assistant Superintendents or field personnel The company offers: Competitive compensation Medical and dental insurance 401(k) with company matching Paid time off Opportunity to work directly with an experienced construction team A diverse mix of commercial and pre-engineered building projects A role with significant field responsibility and direct involvement in project execution The Right Fit This position is best suited for a Superintendent who enjoys being in the field, running the job and solving problems rather than managing construction from behind a desk.
