full-time About the job UrbanBuilt, a Baltimore-based general contracting company serving the Mid-Atlantic region, is seeking an experienced and motivated Superintendent to join our growing team. As a general contracting company, we specialize in commercial renovations and new construction. We are a collaborative and fast-paced organization that offers employees opportunities for hands-on leadership, professional growth, and long-term career development. This role is ideal for an experienced construction professional who enjoys leading field operations, coordinating project teams, and delivering high-quality projects safely, efficiently, and on schedule. The Superintendent serves as the primary on-site leader, overseeing daily construction activities, managing subcontractors and field crews, and partnering closely with Project Managers to ensure successful project execution. Key Responsibilities Oversee all day-to-day job site operations for commercial construction projects Supervise and coordinate subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel Ensure work is performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project plans and specifications Develop and manage two-week look-ahead schedules in partnership with the Project Manager Sequence work activities to maintain project schedules and production goals Identify and proactively address schedule delays, conflicts, and job site challenges Review and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and approved submittals Ensure all work meets quality standards and project requirements Conduct regular job site safety inspections and enforce company safety policies and OSHA standards Lead weekly toolbox talks and maintain a strong culture of safety Monitor field productivity and identify potential impacts to project budgets Coordinate change orders, scope adjustments, and field-related cost concerns with the Project Manager Maintain consistent communication regarding project progress, risks, and schedule updates Serve as an on-site point of contact for clients, inspectors, and project stakeholders Coordinate inspections and facilitate approvals to support project schedules Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and trade partners Support hands-on field work, carpentry, and problem-solving activities as needed Maintain accurate project documentation, reporting, and daily communication with project teams Qualifications 5+ years of commercial construction experience, with a strong preference for experience managing restaurant construction and renovation projects, including field leadership responsibilities Previous experience as a Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, or similar role required Strong knowledge of commercial construction means, methods, sequencing, and safety practices Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project documents Experience managing subcontractors, schedules, and daily field operations Knowledge of OSHA requirements and job site safety best practices Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and experience with Procore or similar construction management software preferred Hands-on carpentry or trade experience is a plus Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites throughout the region Compensation Salary commensurate with experience, with full benefits including vacation and sick leave, and a 401(k) employer match program.
