POSITION OVERVIEW

The Construction Manager leads our IPM team, the technical measurement team that measures, builds, reviews, corrects, and guides installation projects. This is a hybrid office-and-field role based in

Bangor:

part of the week is spent in homes performing and reviewing technical measures as needed, and the other part is spent in the office managing the department's schedule, metrics, and training, and supporting install crews with knowledge and guidance. This role is the construction knowledge base for operations. When a measure, order, process, or install question exceeds an IPM's knowledge, it comes to you. We are looking for someone who has built, framed, sided, installed windows, doors, and trimmed them out; good candidates might be an individual who was/is a carpenter, site supervisor, foreman, or technical measure professional from the residential or commercial construction field who can spot problems in a wall, a plan, or an order before they become mistakes, and who can recover the project when an issue does arise.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Technical Measurement & Construction Expertise

• Perform and review precise in-home technical measures; verify openings, conditions, and specifications so product is ordered right the first time.
• Serve as the escalation point for construction questions that exceed IPM knowledge; structural conditions, out-of-square openings, rot, flashing, code and lead-safe considerations.
• Identify order and specification errors before submission; provide the final check on high-complexity jobs.
• Measure and design complex units: window walls, commercial projects, ellipse windows, grille alignment diagrams, cascading trapezoid windows, and more.
• Ensure that IPMs and other necessary personnel are informed of and follow IRC and IBC code requirements on projects. Team Leadership & Training
• Lead the day-to-day work of the IPM team: assignments, priorities, and standards.
• Teach construction knowledge
• build IPM (and adjacent team) skills through ride-alongs, job-site training, and documented standards.
• Partner with the Director of Operations on hiring, performance reviews, and development planning for the department. Scheduling & Logistics
• Own the technical measure schedule; coordinate with Sales, Installation, and Warehouse so measures, orders, and installs flow without stalls.
• Monitor lead times, backlog, and other business metrics to adjust staffing and assignments as needed. Metrics & Error Root-Cause Analysis
• Own IPM department metrics (measure accuracy, job cycle time, first-time-through, remake/error rate, days-to-measure) and drive improvement against targets.
• Run root-cause analysis on measure and order errors; fix the process, not just the job.
• Report department performance and trends to the Director of Operations.

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS

• Multi-year carpentry and/or exteriors trade experience
• framing, siding, trim, remodeling, etc. This is non-negotiable.
• Window and door installation experience specifically.
• Proven ability to perform accurate technical measurements and read plans and specifications.
• Strong math, geometry, and spatial reasoning skills.
• Experience leading or teaching others in a trade setting (foreman, lead carpenter, site supervisor, or mentor role) preferred.
• Lead-safe/RRP and OSHA certifications preferred.
• Comfort with technology: scheduling, CRM, and reporting platforms (Microsoft Suite; Salesforce and Smartsheet a plus).
• Valid driver's license and the ability to operate RbA vehicles; travel to homes throughout Maine.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to access and move through active job sites and homes, including attics, crawlspaces, and stairways.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs (window/door units, tools, materials).
• Ability to stand, kneel, bend, and climb ladders for extended periods during in-home measures and site visits.
• Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle for regular travel throughout Maine.

SCHEDULE

• Full-time, salaried.
• Normal business office hours are 7:00 AM
• 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with work as needed to fulfill the responsibilities of the role.

WORK LOCATION

Based out of Bangor, ME 04401, with regular travel to job sites and homes throughout Maine. Occasional out-of-state travel for team-building and corporate events.
