Job Description

Project Manager Coastal Maine General Contracting - Ellsworth and Mount Desert Island, Maine Full-Time | $41,600-$104,000/year (based on experience) About Us & The Role At Coastal Maine GC, we're a design-build construction company; focused on quality work, clear communication, and a strong team culture. We are looking for an experienced Preconstruction Manager to lead projects through the planning and development phase before construction begins. This role is responsible for managing scope, schedule, budgeting, estimating coordination, design development, and client communication to ensure projects are set up for success before handoff to operations. The right person is organized, proactive, and comfortable coordinating teams, solving problems early, managing client expectations, and keeping multiple projects moving forward simultaneously.

Communication in everything we do Accountability and ownership Strong effort and attitude Practical problem-solving and creativity Continuous personal growth Respect for people and the work Supporting your team and community What You'll Be Doing Lead coordination between internal teams to ensure alignment on scope, schedule, and budget (SSB) Guide projects through the full preconstruction process from early planning through operations handoff Ensure all preconstruction milestones are met according to internal schedules and client commitments Identify and resolve project risks, scope gaps, constructability concerns, and budget impacts early in development Guide the design process to align with client goals, budget expectations, and project feasibility Develop and manage preconstruction schedules including design timelines, permitting, procurement, and key milestones Coordinate closely with estimating teams to develop conceptual and detailed budgets and review subcontractor/vendor pricing Prepare complete handoff packages for operations teams including scope, schedule, budget, assumptions, risks, and key decisions Serve as the primary point of contact for clients during the preconstruction phase Lead meetings with clients, architects, engineers, consultants, and internal teams to maintain alignment and resolve issues Maintain strong communication, follow-up, and documentation across multiple active projects Create project-specific communication plans including progress updates, meeting schedules, reporting expectations, and chain of communication Produce final preconstruction summary reports for client approval Maintain organized project documentation, version control, meeting notes, and updates throughout development Represent the company professionally with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and the public What We Offer $41,600-$104,000/year (based on experience) Year-round, steady work Paid Time Off + Paid Holidays Health, dental, and vision insurance contribution Simple IRA with company match Discretionary Performance based end-of-year bonus Growth opportunities within the company Supportive team environment with strong communication and leadership What We're Looking For 3-5+ years of preconstruction, project management, estimating, or construction management experience Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills Experience coordinating design teams, budgets, schedules, and client communication Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously Comfortable with ACC, Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, or similar construction management software Able to lead with clarity, consistency, accountability, and professionalism Ready to help us build something better? to join a team where leadership, integrity, and results go hand in hand.
