This position leads and develops a team of professionals to accomplish the overall goals of the department within the Meijer Real Estate and Store Development department. Develops plans and strategies and works with design resources, outside construction management firms, general contractors, etc. to manage construction and capital improvement projects, focused on our major remodel program. Responsible for financial estimating, budgeting, quality, scoping, oversees bidding and contract awards and all construction-related reporting. What You'll be
Doing:
Manage communication and relationships with internal teams and external entities, including governmental entities and the community. Responsible for the overall management of projects. Lead and direct the work of others. Oversee multiple projects at one time with the aid of various levels of Project Managers and Coordinators. Ensure projects are completed on time, to meet scope, and within budget. Assist in staffing, outlining project plans, setting project goals/deadlines, determining permitting and project laborstrategies,and evaluating performance. Continuously measure staff and vendors to determinelevel of project success. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Remain current with industry developments, trends, etc. to adjust Meijer practices as needed. Lead, staff and manage a diverse group of construction and project management professionals. Oversee execution and delivery of construction projects, including, new store, remodels, capital projects, etc. Develop business plans, manage programs and continuous improvement to achieve successful results. Coordinate with subject matter expertise and prototype manager in construction and project focus areas to insure success and continuous improvement. Establish and maintain close relations with partner and customer areas. What You Bring with You (Qualifications): Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or related field preferred. 10+ years of proven success in construction project management. Ability to read and comprehend construction drawings and technical specifications. Knowledge of Meijer functional areas and practices. Effective verbal and written communicator. Familiar with commercial construction practices, Project Management software, accounting systems, etc. We opened our doors more than 90 years ago with the goal of helping people provide for themselves and their family.
