Job Description

Position Summary Flory Line Construction is seeking an experienced Underground Construction Manager to lead field operations for underground utility projects including electric distribution, fiber, and conduit installation. This role oversees crews, ensures safety compliance, drives production, and supports project execution from planning through completion. Key Responsibilities Oversee daily field operations for underground construction projects Lead Superintendents, General Foremen, and field crews Ensure safety compliance and promote FLC safety culture Coordinate with Project Managers on schedule, budget, and resources Drive production and ensure projects stay on schedule Monitor job costs, labor productivity, and equipment utilization Coordinate materials, subcontractors, and equipment needs Support planning for directional boring, trenching, and restoration Interface with customers and utility representatives Assist with change orders and field-driven cost impacts Qualifications 7+ years of experience in underground utility construction Proven leadership experience managing multiple crews and projects Strong knowledge of directional drilling, trenching, and UG installations Experience with electric distribution and/or fiber projects Ability to read and interpret plans, specs, and utility standards Strong communication and problem-solving skills Preferred Qualifications Experience working with Consumers Energy, DTE, or similar utilities Experience in both Blue sky operations Familiarity with unit-based contracts and production tracking OSHA 10/30 or equivalent safety training Working Conditions Combination of office and field work. Exposure to outdoor weather conditions, construction site hazards, and physical site conditions. Required to wear PPE and adhere to safety protocols.
