Construction Project Assistant Traverse City, MI 49696 From $25 an hour - Full-time From $25 an hour - Full-time Job Summary The Construction Project Assistant supports the Project Manager in day-to-day field operations to ensure residential construction projects run efficiently, safely, and on schedule. This role combines site support, material coordination, job site organization, and construction documentation. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, solution-orientated, and comfortable working both in the field and independently.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain clean, organized, and safe job sites throughout all phases of construction Conduct scheduled pre-inspection construction home cleanings Coordinate construction dumpster swap outs and pick ups Run and coordinate materials as needed Capture and organize photo documentation of each home throughout the building process Ensure documentation is accurate, timely, and properly stored for project records Set up and maintain jobsite document boxes, documents, and cameras Identify and communicate any site issues, delays, or safety concerns Install temporary doorknobs as needed Measure and keep record of closet sizes and other crucial measurements Perform general field support tasks to keep projects moving efficientlyQualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Prior experience in construction or a related field preferred, but not required
- Valid driver's license and reliable truck required
- Ability to lift and carry materials (up to ~50 lbs)
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Self-motivated and accountable
- Comfortable using smartphone for photos and reporting
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
- Good communication skills and a solution-oriented mindset
- Prior experience in construction is a plus but not required; willingness to learn is essential
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and punctuality
- Problem solver who can think on their feet
- Basic understanding of construction site safety procedures is preferred
Work Environment:
- Field-based, traveling between multiple residential job sites
- Exposure to outdoor weather conditions and active construction environments

- Clear, consistent photo documentation is maintained for every project
- Job site problems are solved proactively
- Project Manager is well-informed and supported in daily operations
