Job Description:

The Senior Estimating Manager leads the estimating function for the business, owning both day-to-day execution and the long-term direction of the department. This role blends hands-on estimating oversight with strategic leadership, driving consistency, accuracy, and continuous improvement across people, processes, and tools. You'll set standards, guide pre-bid strategy, and partner closely with operations and leadership to ensure estimates support profitable, well-aligned project pursuits. Define and evolve estimating standards, workflows, and best practices across the organization Analyze historical project performance to refine future estimates and cost models Oversee estimating tools, bid management systems, and historical cost databases Lead pre-bid strategy discussions and contribute to broader corporate initiatives Identify and evaluate competitive bid opportunities within the regional market Establish KPIs for the estimating function and ensure consistent execution Direct and/or participate in the preparation of mechanical HVAC and piping estimates Ensure coordination with vendors, subcontractors, and suppliers during bid development Review and approve final estimate packages for accuracy, scope coverage, and completeness Participate in pre-bid reviews, page turns, project turnover, and pre-planning meetings Oversee proposal development, including scope letters and clarifications Administer Q-Pen system updates, pricing maintenance, upgrades, and team training Lead, coach, and develop a team of estimators through recruiting, training, and mentoring Create clear growth paths and ongoing development opportunities for the estimating team Promote accountability, collaboration, and a strong safety-first mindset Model and support Harris' values and culture across the estimating function Qualifications 5+ years of experience estimating mechanical HVAC and piping projects 5+ years of applied knowledge related to construction contracts, estimating strategies, and corporate objectives 5+ years of hands-on experience using Trimble for takeoffs and estimates 5+ years of experience leading, coaching, or managing an estimating team Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline preferred Benefits Medical, Dental, Vision, and Life Insurance 401K with company match Vacation time, sick time, and paid holidays $105,000 - $158,000
