Defender supports the 509th Contracting Squadron in maintaining and improving base facilities critical to Whiteman AFB's national defense mission. Defender is a dedicated SABER (Simplified Acquisition of Base Engineering Requirements) contractor, supporting Whiteman AFB in executing a wide range of maintenance, repair, and minor construction projects. MAC, SABER, and IDIQ contracts are designed for high-volume, quick-turnaround work , requiring agility, expertise, and compliance with stringent government requirements.What We Are Looking For:
We are seeking a motivated Construction Project Manager to join our team at Whiteman AFB. This role involves managing multiple multi-trade construction projects ranging from $200,000 to $5,000,000 in size. The ideal candidate will be experienced in federal construction contracting, project oversight, and subcontractor management, with a strong ability to coordinate between government stakeholders, subcontractors, and internal teams. Responsibilities of theConstruction Project Manager:
- Oversee and manage multiple construction projects from start to finish, ensuring compliance with contract requirements
- Attend site visits with Government engineers to develop site notes and scopes of work
- Develop and refine estimates in coordination with the estimating team using RS Means & estimating software
- Negotiations with clients
- Creating and maintenance of project budgets , ETC/EAC
- Manage subcontractor performance and ensure timely completion of work
- Perform project buyout and negotiate pricing with trade partners
- Coordinate and submit project submittals and maintain compliance with government reporting requirements
- Utilize project management tools and software to track deliverables, costs, and timelines
- Communicate regularly with government stakeholders, providing project updates and managing expectations
- Ensure safety and quality control standards are met on all projects
- Provide timely reports to senior leadership on project status, budget, and risks
Qualifications:
- 5 Years Experience managing multi-trade construction projects at the Project Manager level
- Ability to obtain military base access (Pre-employment background check required)
- Strong subcontractor/vendor management experience
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Proficiency in project management software
- Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States .
Having:
- 5+ years of experience in federal construction contracts, including SABER, JOCC, MACC, or MATOC
- Familiarity with Whiteman AFB or similar military installation construction environments
- Knowledge of DoD standards, QA/QC expectations, and contract negotiation protocols
