Job Description

SUMMARY The Site Superintendent is the person responsible for supervising, coordinating and scheduling the activities of the subcontractors, carpenters, laborers and other site staff members to create exceptional construction products for Big Sky Build, Inc. This position must demonstrate strong leadership, organizational and time management skills, including exhibiting excellent communication skills. Experience overseeing custom projects in southwest Montana required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Sets the standard to enforce all established safety rules and regulations and invoke a culture of safety by holding all parties involved responsible for site safety.
  • Evaluates projects to determine compliance with technical specifications.
  • Communicates exceptionally with a variety of stakeholders, namely Project Managers, clients, management, subcontractors, Carpenters, Laborers and more.
  • Coordinates and directs the activities of subcontractors, Carpenters, and Laborers.
  • Coordinates all worksite activities in conjunction with Project Managers.
  • Occasionally prepares building areas to perform tasks, such as removing snow from surfaces and job site.
  • Monitor costs, including labor time and material.
  • Oversees finish work and ensures punch list is completed fully.
  • Serve as teacher and coach to carpenters and laborers to provide a supportive on-the-job learning environment.
  • Performs all duties in as safe a manner as possible, following all OSHA regulations, and reporting any questions to the Director of HR.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school degree or equivalent required; post-secondary technical education preferred.
MUST HAVE
leadership experience on detailed construction sites in Big Sky, Montana.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, and knowledge of the building and construction business.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction technology including Bluebeam, costing, materials, methods, and tools involved in the construction or repair of houses or buildings, as well as design techniques and procedures.
  • Proven ability to manage employees by motivating, developing and directing people as they work.
  • Excellent reasoning ability and common sense are required.
  • Ability to work in the safest manner possible.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions, including cold, wind, snow, heat, and other extreme conditions.
  • Prolonged periods of standing and lifting, up to 4 hours at a time and 9 hours per day.
  • Excellent manual dexterity for use of shovels, common construction tools and equipment.
  • Hearing and vision within normal ranges is important for conversations and to receive information, communicate with peers and subcontractors, and teach subordinates.
  • Infrequently able to lift up to 50 pounds; occasionally able to lift up to 25 pounds.
