Job Description
Job Summary C&M Plumbing & Septic is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Residential Plumbing Estimator / Preconstruction Coordinator to support our growing residential new-construction operation. This position is responsible for preparing accurate plumbing estimates, pricing builder plans and options, coordinating bid information, and communicating changes across our preconstruction, purchasing, account management, and operations teams. Previous plumbing estimating experience is preferred but not required. We are willing to train someone who has strong organizational skills, communicates well, works accurately, and is interested in learning residential construction and plumbing estimating. Responsibilities Review residential construction plans, specifications, scopes of work, and builder documents. Complete material and labor takeoffs for residential new-construction plumbing. Establish and maintain pricing for builder base plans, options, selections, and plan revisions. Prepare estimates and bid packages for management review and approval. Communicate with builder purchasing teams regarding bids, pricing, plans, options, and requested changes. Coordinate preconstruction information with C&M account managers. Keep management informed of bid deadlines, outstanding information, and community bid statuses. Coordinate with the internal purchasing department regarding material availability, product substitutions, material costs, and pricing changes. Communicate builder requirements, preferences, and plan changes to the operations team. Track plan revisions and confirm that changes are reflected accurately in takeoffs and pricing. Maintain organized estimating records, pricing information, plan files, and supporting documentation. Identify pricing discrepancies, missing information, and potential cost concerns before construction begins. Visit jobsites, builder offices, or other local locations approximately once per week. Follow established estimating and approval procedures while helping improve the accuracy and efficiency of the preconstruction process. Qualifications Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. Excellent organizational and time-management skills. Clear and professional written and verbal communication. Ability to manage multiple plans, bids, deadlines, and builder requests simultaneously. Ability to read, understand, and learn residential construction plans. Comfortable working with numbers, pricing, spreadsheets, and detailed documentation. Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel. Ability to learn new software, processes, and construction terminology. Ability to work independently while following established pricing and management approval procedures. Ability to collaborate effectively with builders, account managers, purchasing, operations, and management. Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally approximately once per week. The following experience is helpful but not required: Residential construction or plumbing experience. Estimating, material takeoff, or blueprint-reading experience. Experience working with production homebuilders or builder purchasing teams. Familiarity with residential plumbing installations, including under-slab, rough-in, and trim-out stages. Experience using Bolt, QuickBooks, or similar business software Software Used Microsoft Excel Bolt QuickBooks Training will be provided on company-specific systems and processes. Position Structure Reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer. This position does not initially include employee supervision. Estimates and pricing are submitted to management for review and approval.
