POSITION SUMMARY
The Lift Planning Specialist at Borsheim Companies is responsible for developing detailed lift and civil plans, coordinating with project teams and general contractors, and ensuring safe, efficient crane operations. This position plays a critical role in project preparation by evaluating site conditions, determining crane requirements, and supporting both field and yard operations. The Lift Planning Specialist also assists with safety audits, site layouts, and occasionally participates in rigging and load-out activities to support project execution. This position can be based in West Fargo, ND or Williston, ND.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Develop and review lift plans, civil plans, and related documentation for upcoming projects.
- Analyze job scope and specifications to determine appropriate crane sizing, configuration, and support equipment.
- Prepare and submit required government and general contractor documentation for project compliance.
- Coordinate and request wind studies and other site-specific data as needed for safe planning.
- Conduct job walks to assess site conditions, layout, and logistical requirements.
- Assist in creating and maintaining accurate site layout drawings for crane setup and movement.
- Perform site safety audits and ensure compliance with company and regulatory safety standards.
- Collaborate with project managers, dispatch, and field crews to ensure plans align with job timelines and equipment availability.
- Provide technical support for rigging configurations, load charts, and lift calculations.
- Assist with rigging and load-out operations in the yard when needed to support field execution.
- Maintain organized records of all plans, drawings, and correspondence related to assigned projects.
- Other duties as assigned by the Lead Engineer.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous experience in the crane, heavy lift, or construction industry preferred.
- Working knowledge of crane operations, rigging principles, and load calculations.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, site plans, and load charts.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar drafting software preferred.
- Strong understanding of OSHA, ASME, and other relevant safety standards.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail and deadlines.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to job sites as needed.
- Ability to pass a background check and pre-employment drug screen.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to:
- Must be able to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
- Occasionally lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to climb, bend, stoop, and work outdoors in varying weather conditions during site visits.
- Visual and auditory acuity required to perform safety inspections and interpret technical drawings.
