Job Description

The Project Manager is responsible for the successful planning, execution, and closeout of landscape construction and enhancement projects. This position ensures projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality and safety standards. The Project Manager acts as the main point of contact for clients, internal teams, and subcontractors throughout the life of a project.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Client Engagement & Sales Assists the sales team as needed in the sales process as an SME. Project Scoping & Estimating Participate in defining the project scope in collaboration with design, estimating, and operations teams. Create or contribute to detailed construction estimates based on material takeoffs (MTOs), labor needs, and equipment requirements. Assist in identifying value engineering options and opportunities for upsells. Planning & Scheduling Develop project management plans, outlining phases of construction, key deliverables, staffing plans, and resource needs. Create and maintain construction schedules, incorporating project milestones and deadlines. Assure production goals, timelines, and plans are met by making needed adjustments due to weather, attendance, or unforeseen field conditions. Contract & Vendor Management Coordinate with internal procurement teams to secure materials and equipment. Ensure all invoices, receipts, and procurement items for your projects are handled correctly with documentation provided to the office staff within 48 hours of purchase. Resource & Field Operations Management Secure, manage and allocate materials, equipment, and personnel to meet project timelines and deliverables. Keep accurate inventory of tools, equipment, and machinery required for daily operations. Ensure optimal use of labor and minimize downtime through proactive planning and coordination. Participate in the recruitment and hiring processes. Performance Monitoring & Reporting Oversee the performance of general contractors, site supervisors, and crews to ensure quality and productivity. Provide regular status updates and reports to clients and internal stakeholders. Track job progress using company systems (e.g., Aspire) and document key milestones, issues, and resolutions. Budgeting & Cost Control Manage project budgets, tracking costs and ensuring profitability. Monitor job costs, labor hours, material usage, and subcontractor expenses to maintain alignment with estimates. Identify and address variances promptly, recommending corrective actions as needed. Team Leadership & Development Supervise field staff and crew leaders involved in project execution. Complete bi-annual performance assessments with direct reports, providing constructive feedback and setting clear goals. Conduct monthly PAR (Performance Accountability Review) meetings with team members to discuss progress, coaching opportunities, and career development. Support conflict resolution within teams and escalate concerns appropriately. Ensure team engagement by regular check-ins to support the field staff in communication, providing items they need, or resolving problems. Compliance & Safety Ensure all work is performed in accordance with health and safety standards and company policies. Promote and enforce use of PPE, proper equipment handling, and safe job site practices. Report, respond, and investigate safety incidents or near misses in a timely manner as assigned. Winter Operations Support company snow removal operations as needed, which may include planning routes, managing crews, and performing snow and ice services during winter months.
Education and Training:
Bachelor's degree in architecture, civil engineering, construction management or related field -or- has worked through company succession plan Strong knowledge of construction management best practices Fluency in software programs related to construction management, including project management software Fluency in Microsoft Office software Current with rules and regulations related to construction Years of construction management experience managing budgets and schedules Prior experience managing a construction site Experience leading a construction crew Proven risk management experience in construction projects

Strong team management and leadership skills Problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills Project management skills such as time management, project budgeting, resource management and project scheduling Read blueprints/plans and effectively communicate plan of execution to crews Adept use of math Be creative and thoughtful in regards to design layouts and patterns Operate heavy equipment Proper use of power and hand tools Install hardscapes, softscapes, and other landscape project features Understand and follow verbal and written instructions Work effectively and efficiently without supervision Use safe work practices at all times Excellent written and verbal communication skills Excellent customer service skills Learn new software and mobile apps as required
