About Our Client About the Company Our client is a respected heavy civil contractor with a long-standing reputation for delivering complex infrastructure and site development projects throughout New Jersey and the surrounding region. Their portfolio includes roadway improvements, bridge construction, utility installations, sitework, earthmoving, drainage systems, and public infrastructure projects for municipal, state, and private-sector clients. Due to continued growth and a strong backlog of work, they are seeking an experienced Superintendent to join their field leadership team in Princeton, NJ. Job Description Hiring Need / Day to Day The Superintendent will be responsible for overseeing daily field operations on heavy civil construction projects, ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This individual will serve as the primary field leader and coordinate all on-site personnel, subcontractors, equipment, and project activities.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage day-to-day field operations for heavy civil construction projects. Coordinate crews, subcontractors, vendors, and equipment resources. Develop and maintain project schedules and work plans. Ensure compliance with all OSHA, company, and client safety requirements. Monitor production rates and project progress to meet deadlines. Conduct daily site meetings and safety briefings. Collaborate with Project Managers, Engineers, and Estimators to ensure project success. Review project plans, specifications, and schedules. Identify and resolve field issues proactively to minimize delays. Track quantities, manpower, and equipment utilization. Maintain project documentation including daily reports, inspections, and progress updates. Foster strong relationships with clients, inspectors, and stakeholders. The Successful Applicant Preferred Qualifications:
5+ years of experience as a Superintendent on heavy civil construction projects. Experience managing roadway, bridge, utility, site development, excavation, grading, or infrastructure projects. Strong understanding of construction means and methods. Proven leadership experience managing multiple crews and subcontractors. Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications. Knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety practices. Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills. Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as needed.
