Full time, 35 hours/week Compensation 150K-165K/ Annually The Roosevelt Island Operating Corporation (RIOC and/or the Corporation) is a public benefit corporation, state authority and a political subdivision of the State of New York, which operates under Title 35 of the Public Authorities Law. RIOC's mission is to plan, design, develop, operate, maintain and manage Roosevelt Island. As part of this mandate, RIOC operates and maintains several facilities, including the Cultural Center, Sportspark, and the Motorgate Garage; as well as open spaces such as Firefighter's Field, Southpoint Park, and Lighthouse Park, among other facilities and locations. Infrastructure operations also include the Aerial Tramway, AVAC and free Red Bus services throughout Roosevelt Island. RIOC's Public Safety Department serves as the community's first responders in coordination with the New York City Police Department. RIOC's workforce is comprised of administrative staff and union workers from Local 210, 32BJ, and PSOBA. Position Summary Reporting to the Assistant Vice President of Engineering and Capital Projects & Planning, the Senior Director of Construction is responsible for overseeing multiple capital, maintenance and infrastructure projects of varying size and complexity. The role includes coordinating multidisciplinary project teams, communicating with internal and external stakeholders, and managing project scope, schedule, and budget. The position also provides support across the broader Engineering and Capital Projects and Planning portfolio. Essential Responsibilities Oversee design activities involving engineers, architects, consultants, and vendors. Ensure design management aligns with project scope, budget, schedule, and applicable standards. Review construction documents, logistics plans, bid packages, consultant RFPs, RFIs, payment requisitions, and change orders. Coordinate and oversee construction activities across multiple sites, ensuring safety, efficiency, minimal operational impacts, and compliance with permits and regulatory requirements through project close-out. Manage contract budgets and schedules, negotiate change order pricing, and prepare required funding-related reports and approvals. Evaluate project documents and clearly communicate goals, expectations, and deliverables to project teams. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop project recommendations, sequencing strategies, scopes of work, and RFPs for repair and rehabilitation projects. Identify project issues and risks, ensuring timely resolution and mitigation. Make recommendations for and maintain construction safety policies and procedures in accordance with OSHA regulations and RIOC standards. Recommend solutions to senior management for resolving critical project challenges. Maintain accurate and comprehensive project documentation. Manage the preparation of reports, presentations, research, and studies. Conduct site safety inspections as directed. Perform other duties as assigned. Education & Experience Requirements Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, architecture, construction management, or a related field. Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in construction project management, engineering, architecture, or capital planning. Professional Engineer (PE) or Registered Architect (RA) license desirable; Certified Construction Manager (CCM) and Project Management Professional (PMP) certifications preferred. Experience developing and reviewing construction plans, site logistics plans, construction bid and consultant RFP packages, RFIs and payment requisitions. Required Skills Strong planning, organizational, and multitasking abilities. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams. Demonstrated focus on delivering results, improving organizational effectiveness, and driving continuous improvement. Excellent team building, listening, problem-solving, and prioritization skills. Experience with SCADA and BMS systems. Proficiency in MS Office, MS Project, and Procore.What we offer:
