Job Description
SuperintendentPosition OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Superintendent to lead day-to-day field operations for mission-critical, higher education, industrial, and manufacturing projects. The Superintendent will manage on-site crews (including self-perform teams), ensure safety and quality, maintain schedule and budget adherence, and coordinate closely with project managers, clients, and subcontractors to deliver complex projects on time and to specification.
Key ResponsibilitiesLead and supervise on-site construction activities across mission-critical, higher education, industrial, and manufacturing projects.
Plan, schedule, and sequence daily and weekly work to meet project milestones while minimizing downtime for mission-critical operations.
Direct, mentor, and coordinate self-perform crews and subcontractors to achieve productivity, quality, and safety goals.
Enforce and promote safety programs, conduct toolbox talks, and ensure compliance with OSHA and site-specific safety requirements.
Manage quality control and workmanship inspections; ensure work meets contract documents, drawings, and specifications.
Coordinate with project managers, engineers, facilities staff, and client representatives to resolve issues, obtain approvals, and communicate progress.
Track labor, equipment, and material usage; report status and variances to project management and assist in cost control.
Implement site logistics, access control, and protection plans to safeguard ongoing operations and critical systems.
Oversee commissioning, turnover, and closeout activities; ensure punch lists are completed and documentation is delivered.
Identify risks and develop mitigation plans for schedule, safety, and technical challenges.
Maintain accurate daily reports, RFIs, change order documentation, and as-built records.
QualificationsMinimum 7+ years of field construction experience with at least 3 years as a Superintendent on medium to large projects.
Proven experience on mission-critical projects and familiarity with higher education, industrial, or manufacturing facility environments.
Experience managing self-perform workforces (electrical, mechanical, concrete, or trades relevant to the business).Strong knowledge of construction means and methods, MEP systems, commissioning processes, and quality control practices.
Demonstrated ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and construction schedules (Procore or similar experience a plus).Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills; able to collaborate with owners, facilities teams, and subcontractors.
Solid understanding of safety regulations (OSHA) and track record of maintaining safe job sites.
Proficient in scheduling, reporting, and project documentation; familiarity with BIM, CNC, or digital coordination tools is advantageous.
Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred but not required; trade background with supervisory experience also acceptable.
Willingness to work flexible hours and travel to project sites as required.
